What backlink anchor text density do you think is ideal?

Do you think a few percent or even less? What do you think is ideal to rank and also avoid penguin penalties?

I noticed a lot of my competitors have branded and random as the highest densitys. Some competitiors who have been around years also have hundreds of branded links that seem to help them rank but a lot of them are actually from web directories so I have a feeling that may an advantage competiting with them.

You should reserve 'money term' anchor texts for your highest quality backlink sources.

Everything else should be 'junk' anchors, BRAND anchors, and naked urls.
