I know lots of us use Google Analytics. But I need a new solution something that Google doesn't own for various reasons.

Paid solutions are fine I really want/need something that is at least par with with the Goog.

    What are your recommendations?

    Another vote for Piwik.

just starting out, but wanted to avoid anything related to the big G, and of all the free analytics software out there, Piwik looks the best.

I understand, while using Analytics you expose all your secrets to big G.
