I am getting ready to purchase a new domain for the purpose of creating an authority niche site with Adsense. Adsense will be the first and probably primary source of income as the niche does not have associated clickbank or amazon products.

Perhaps once I have REAL traffic and viewership I can ask for direct banner advertising from companies who sell the products I am giving information for.

So with a new domain and only a few pages to it... What are your TOP 5 or less things to do to gain backlinks and favor in the search engines?

I am thinking some Fiverr type, inexpensive backlinks that don't do the 10k comment spam links... Maybe small social bookmarking packages?

Early on should I do one of those more expensive packages that creates several web 2.0 properties and tons of backlinks to THOSE web 2.0s?

What have you done for your new sites?

My MNS has been up for 3weeks

so far...30 web2.0 service, 600 angela paul backlinks, and just ordered majestic fuel links v2 (package #1) since site is still new

I added all-in-one seo plugin in my wordpress and target about 5 keywords each article...(site currently contains 5, 600+ word unique articles plus 3 product reviews)

few days after I purchased the web2.0's and angela paul backlink services, I shot up to page #5 on google... now i'm doing the G dance and on page #22... hopefully majestic + manual backlinking will put me back up

if I can make it to top #5 in google... im making some money !!!

    good luck

edit: woops sorry about that mistake I fixed it haha...also going to do some blast to the web2.0's that i bought...

double edit: my site just jumped up 3 pages so it's definitely doing the dance

Nice question. I'm still a newbie, but I managed to get #2 with a 12.000 local searches /month keyword only with a Scrapebox blast. About 800 backlinks, even though Google Webmasters only shows me 250 as indexed. Nothing more. The niche has very low competition, however.

Now I'm with another niche with much greater competition but only 6-8k searches/month. I just wanted to do in the "legal way" and what I've done is:
    - Add quality, useful and unique content every 4-5 days.
    - Only 20-30 comments blog with PR and not spammed (in the anterior niche lots of those backlinks were pages with 10k comments, by the way).
    - 4 article submissions to pr3-4
    - 70-80 directory submissions to pr5-6-7.

In this case, after 3-4 weeks I'm not still in the 500 first results on Google and in fact I have only received 1 single visit through Google with this period of time. The other niche took me only 3-5 days to get on the second position.

But hey, just follow Google instructions to get to the top #1!!

    Good Luck

    Ok... just want to clarify...

EDIT: ok was gonna call BS on you and then I think you missed some punctuation and a word... maybe it should have read like this:

"...(site currently contains 5, 600+ word unique articles plus 3 product reviews)"

Your original post sounded (read) like you had 5,600+ unique articels... LOL

Hmmm... so you do all of that for a brand new domain that you just bought and has like 5 articles on it? I have a feeling that would sand box ya for a good 30 days.

Then again I did a 8k backlink smorgasborg shotgun blast to my last new site and yes I got like less than 10 UV per day for the first 30-60 days, but now I do ok for my niche.

No Videos or Social Media in 2012?

FB, Twitter, programming sites, wiki, PR type sites

I am no Pro by any means but that strategy is like 2008.

On a new site? Are you kidding?

Start your new site off with social bookmarking as the first step.

You have to be carefull with new sites as they are in the magnifying glass held by google.
