To grow your network, post quality content on social network and share your posts in relevant group. Use relevant and famous hashtags in your posts.

1) join groups where is your target audience
2) send connection request to the group members with a custom message saying that you both belong to that particular group bla bla bla
enjoy new real connections
Important: Do Not send out more than 100 connection requests /day (if you have a green account - start with 25-30/day)
best of success!
Be organic as much as you can we you are sending messages, and dont be too aggressive.
For requests its best way to start sending to someone that maybe have same followers as you have.
LI is stricken with that, slow growth is best in bigging.

Tell people who you are, what it is you do and how you can help them.
Don't bother too much with setting up a Linked-In page.
Groups are the way to go.
Join related groups. Maybe you can even start your own group and get hundreds of members.
People are constantly searching on there for others - experts, freelancers etc.
Try to optimize your profile so that it can help you to be found and contacted by more people looking for what you specialize.

Linkedin is not much had on users but sometimes does little unwanted behavior.

Linkedin groups don't do much anymore and the feature is not as popular as it used to be, and I've noticed lots of spam/bots on there lately
Send connections requests. Don´t be afraid to do this. One tip is to search for LIONs, they will always accept and at least they will not mark your request as spam.
Post and comment regulary. LinkendIn awards frequent users. You should also keep your niche a bit wide otherwise you will struggle to get followers.

Yes, there are some. But, here you need to be careful. LinkedIn spots a bot unless it behaves as a human and then your profile will be restricted. We are currently working on a LinkedIn profile builder that acts as a human. We can now build profiles from zero and up without them being restricted.
