People often talk about the ease of SEO, but all I am seeing is my costs rising steadily higher and higher.

I just want a simple opt-in site so I can direct visitors to a clickbank product at first, and then an ebook I will write later if everything goes peachy.

Looking at the costs so far...

Domain- $10
Host - $10 a month
Aweber - $1 first month, but I need 2, so $30ish
Cpanel - $425
Wordpress Direct - Free first month, but I need 2 at least, so $20ish

Is there a way I can avoid these ridiculous costs? I only have a $75 budget to work with.

What do you need a cpanel for?

Instead of Aweber, install an email campaign script you can download here.

If it's a simple opt in site, there's a lot of free webhosts who can host your domain.

april6e,

$425? Your crazy.

Do this:

1)Namecheap.com
-get domain $9-10 (use coupon "harvest")
-get hosting $7 per month

2)aweber
-$1 first month, $30+ second, etc.

3)Install wordpress using fantastico in your namecheap cpanel, takes 5 minutes
-this allows you to use the power of wordpress websites which means PLUGINS (All In One SEO Pack, XML Sitemap, etc. for FREE)

That's it!

Namecheap usually takes 24 hours to setup your cpanel, etc.

Here's a guide on how to setup wordpress inside your cpanel:

Code:
http://teamtutorials.com/web-development-tutorials/install-wordpress-using-fantastico-in-cpanel

For cheap setup:
1. Domain - Internet.bs ($7.49 for .com with free whois privacy)
2. Hosting - Chilledhost.co.uk (Shared hosting with cPanel starting at $1 per month)
3. Aweber

No need to buy cPanel separately and use Wordpress Direct. You can easily set your site up on your own.

I've searched all over the internet for this "fantastico" thing every talks about and could never find it.

I went on their website, and I can't find any download pages on their site.

Anyways, I was checking out that tutorial.

The first step is to have a cpanel account.

So don't I have to buy cpanel?

I've used the following below using WP blog:

Namecheap - 10
M2host - 12 a year
Mailchimp - free (until list gets over 500 sub)

Just my 2 cents

april6e,

When you get hosting from namecheap it comes with cpanel.

Then it takes 24 hours for them to setup everything for you, then you get login information.

Then you follow the tutorial I gave you, and your good to go by making your website using wordpress.

So it's cpanel - fantastico - wordpress

Then you just use wordpress for posting content, links, etc. on your website.

april,

I think you are lost. I personally use hostgator for hosting. I have used namecheap, they are both good.

You are making this very confusing. Here are step by step directions. Let me know if you need help.

1. Purchase domain. You can get it from Godaddy or namecheap. Use coupon above for namecheap or google godaddy coupons for "godaddy coupons".

Cost = around $8.00 with a coupon

2. Purchase Hosting. I personally use hostgator. Cost is $9.97 per month for unlimited stuff. you can also use godaddy or namecheap. Cost is all about the same. When you purchase hosting it will have a cpanel for you. You don't not have to do anything at this point except change your name servers. Let me know when you get this far if you need help.

3. Now you can add wordpress FOR FREE, using fantastico or downloading it from wordpress.org and uploading it to your file manager. If you need help with this step, again let me know.

4. There is a wordpress plug-in that will capture emails. Let me know when you get this far and I will fix you up with it.

or

Aweber alternative is www.supersponders.com. From what you said above, you would just need the $6.00 a month package. I am pretty sure it is unlimited subscribers.

Total cost - $26.00 roughly.

You can use justhost which is only $46 per a year!

If you go with a shared hosting account then cpanel is usually included free with most hosts. You don't need to search on the web for fantastico, it is usually included with cpanel on most shared hosting accounts. Using fantastico you can easily set up wordpress if you want.

Even if the hosting company provides a different control panel besides cpanel and if they don't provide fantastico, you can still install wordpress yourself manually for free. In fact you don't even have to use wordpress if you don't want. It simplifies setting up your website, but you could also just make some static html pages.

So basically your down the total cost to have a single website of your own is the cost of the domain ($2-$10 depending on the tld and registrar), and monthly shared hosting account ($5-$15 per month depending on the hosting company and plan). If you choose a hosting plan that allows unlimited domains then your cost for additional domains will simply be the cost for registering the domain.

That's a pretty nice offer fvcktheworld made to help you. So if you have problems setting any of that up you have somewhere to go for help now.

Goodluck with your projects, Wolf.
