    Just want some opinions here..

What would you guys/girls think the odds of success would be with a classified kind of site, targeted to real estate (houses, apartments and so on)

Locally where I live the site I built blows the competition out of the water. My site has way more features, looks good and is easy to use. But where I am now Im kind of lost in how to actually get people to use it (its free to use as of now) Feel like I don't really know where to start, and Im starting to wonder.. What are the odds of this thing even getting successful!?

Basically Im trying to start local and expand as it goes..

    Any advice/input would be great

I think you should go for it. If you want to make it productive and successful then you can do it, but we will only know this, when you actually try it.
Once you get the traffic, your site will grow and so will the traffic. You're just going to need to advertise it by any means possible.

But, just put your head to it and don't get discouraged. The same way those other guys made it, you can to!

I think it could be successful provided that you make yourself known. Real estate agents don't like paying for advertising but need to advertise in order to sell of course. If you can attend some real estate meet-ups or conventions in your area you could get small booth or display area and simply give out some info and talk about your site and that it's completely free. Once you get a few on board with listing on your site, others will soon follow. Agents find out where their competitors list properties by simply typing in the addresses of different listings on Google. Your site would rank for those addresses which should get you more visitors and attention.

All of this is great advice! Y'all are hitting the nail right on the head here..

I plan on getting business cards and brochures and than trying to set up meetings with companies in my area to get them on the site

Was even thinking of printing off stickers and slapping em on bus shelters and stuff.

It is discouraging though.. I fancy myself as a pretty good web developer. The project and site is sound. But after I launched I'm sitting here on a daily basis asking.. "what in the heck do i do now!?"

I'd start by reaching out to a couple agencies in your area and offer them some limited exposure opportunities on your site. After all, it is highly unlikely they would refuse free advertising and you need some ads to bring people to your site. When the traffic grows, you can charge the companies for ad placement/listing a number of items. Just be sure to target your initial offer to one of the two largest companies in your area, so that their immediate rival will want to outperform them.

^ Great advice too, and this is true people do follow the bigger fish so if I get the big companies on the smaller ones will follow. In the name of proactivity I was also thinking to offer to do photos for them if they need. Maybe offer some extra services like that for a fee to spice the deal. Although Im not sure if that could backfire on me..

The odds are what ever you want them to be. Sure it depends on the opportunity's that you have, but hey you have an internet connection and a computer so the possibilities are absolutely endless.
