For example, Google.com is obviously the most up to date algorithm, in terms of how to rank, what they look for etc...

    What about other countries?

Google.ca, google.com.au, google.ru.... Is there any type of "ranking" for what stage of algorithms they are at?

I know a lot of Indian SEOs can use tactics that if used on Google.com would immediately be penalized.

I'm recently picking up a Canadian client and Australian client, and wasn't sure where they are in terms of updates.

The algorithms all work the same. The difference is in user and especially your competitors' behavior.

No it's not the same. I've ranked on google.de far easier than on google.com. Of course without spam tactics but still quicker results.

They definitely don't, you can get away with a lot more on "older" Google engines, just because they don't put as much effort into them. That's why you can rank a crap site on a crap Google engine like the Indian version that is like 6 years behind in terms of "SEO updates"

Yeah, I don't intend on spam tactics, but I definitely want to take advantage of any old "tricks" before I start implementing currently accepted tactics.. May as well.

    Thanks for the input guys

Like I said that is due to user behavior. The algorithm is the same. Indian users don't report spam or snitch on competitors as much. I work with 70% clients in non-English speaking countries.

Ahh, makes more sense. So just stick to current working trends I suppose.
