With the recent Google update a lot of sites have had their authority slashed like Ezine, Squidoo, etc. but I'm wondering if there are any good, free sites that still have a lot of authority in Google's eyes.

I don't want to build a new site just to rank for a longtail keyword that only gets 500 searches per month, but I'd rather put something "disposable" up there like an article or lens. Will pages like those still rank fairly easily if there's low competition or are they not worth it?

Basically what I'm asking is what sites are best now to dominate low search, low competition keywords after the Google update?

    Thanks for any input :D

Just build more than usual to cover the algorithm changes.

And also do some High PR commenting and angela and paul BL's (Forums)

I think the jury is still out on the long term effects of the algo change, but for medium competition keywords you will find sqquidoo, ezinea, buzzle, etc still ranking. Do some searches. I've been checking this week and they are still there. Whatever they are still valuable for backlinking.

Hubpages ranks well for me and quite quickly but you need a high score for do-follow.

Yeah I haven't heard much on Hubpages being slapped, but aren't they extremely strict when it comes to affiliate marketing. Like if there's any sign of trying to sell something then your article will get deleted.

Talking about that will Hubpages remove your article if you link to another "review" landing page? Not directly linking to the offer.

that high score is for each article or your profile score. Cause I know that more than 75 points converts teh links in do follow. But that 75 is for each article ( which is really hard ) or per profile ( which is not too hard, all my articles are less than 75 points but my profile have 85 points right now ) ?
    thanks
