What are the best Launch Strategies to gain maximum attention on Launch day and beyond?

    Hello everyone,

    I haven't posted much around here but I have been reading and following different stories through the years. I wanted to ask the help of some of the talented people in this forum. As you can see from the title, I'm seeking the knowledge of the best launch strategies. Perhaps this post will serve future readers on the best strategies to launch their products. Here are some details:

    • I'm going to launch a new product (a video game) in a few months.
    • The game is going to be published on Steam and I have built up a following on Twitter (over 2k followers) and on Steam as well.
    • In my opinion, the game is unique, fun and provides an entertainment value to the customer.
    • I have invested about 8k to make it as well as almost 3 years of working on it as a side project while working full time. I've always wanted something valuable to be able to sell to customers and I have put all my effort into this one. So now is the time to prepare for the super awesome launch day ;)

    The Launch Strategies that I have been thinking of doing are:

    1. Contact Press a month or 2 in advance. Somehow track all the journalist that wrote about similar games and contact them.
    2. Start building backlinks for the official website and target 3 keywords. (the domain is about 3 years old). Somehow find a good service from this forum to use to do that.
    3. Post everyday on social media (Twitter, Facebook, G+, Tumblr) about 6-8 weeks out of Launch Day.
    4. Start streaming popular games on Twitch.tv about 6-8 weeks out
    5. Contact famous Youtubers about 1-2 weeks out and give them review copy of the game.
    6. Finally, submit the game to Product Hunt on Launch Day and hope for the best.

    I've tried contacting gaming PR agencies but somehow they are all "busy". It is very hard to get noticed and I really need your help to figure out the best ways to launch this game to get maximum attention.

    P.S: I don't mind investing a bit of money to bring more customers/build hype.
    P.P.S: I will keep updating this post if I add more strategies and update you on how the launch is going if anyone is interested.

    The best you can do is to contact the Press.. you may even use some of the services around that handle all dealings with them at once. They most often also have the better contacts to get straight through to the right people to get your news published.

    Start with a series of pre launch emails offering a freebie for a sign up
    Then set up a set of autorepsonder messages to each subscriber and make them good quality.

    Approach existing sites in your niche and tell them youve posted great content peole might be interested in.
    solicit people in your field to contribute content
    host a chat day with an expoert and get them to mail about you to thier lists

    just a few ideas.

    It seems you know what you are doing. You have a very solid game plan. Another good idea would to maybe give out a few free copies to some people with lots of friends or follows to see if they like it and recommend it. Since you're saying you wouldn't mind investing some more money, you should try advertisements maybe. Interact some more with your followers on twitter or facebook, keep them involved and interested.

    P.S. Could you PM me the name of the game? I am interested! I could even write a review on the game if you'd like, I have experience in that field as I run a couple video game strategy sites.

    Pre launch marketing, all sorts of it should get your audiences ready for the day.
