What are the advantages of VPS hosting??

Hi all,

I understand somewhat the advantages of VPS hosting (no shared hosting, my own system, etc.) but what about other GH or BH issues?

In other words, if I have VPS hosting can I still spam emails and do I have unlimited emails per hour, etc.? Or am I still under the same basic Can SPam restrictions?

I was on shared hosting and got an email from the security dept. because someone reported my spam email. Would this still happen with VPS?

It depends on your hosts rules, my dedicated server has no mailing limits as long as my email is registered to abuse.net, I have an optout link in every email along with the other necessarys (Address, contact num, business name etc).

I'm still not 100% sure if I'm actually allowed to send out unlimited emails though, I'm sure they wouldn't be too happy if I did.

All of my mailings are to double optin addresses so they are legit.

It sounds like you're looking for "bulletproof" hosting, for large scale mailing a dedicated server would be best. As stated above, if your host is strict on complaints the type of hosting is irrelevant.

Well if you spam every e-mail address in the world, then I'm sure people won't be happy and your hosting won't cover your ass. You need to have a think about how many e-mails your going to send out PER day, so you can find hosting which suites this need, ask for ways you WILL be allowed to send x amount of e-mails per day and many hosting providers will explain what YOU need to follow to be allowed to send this amount of emails on a daily base.

There are plently of other reasons why owning/having a VPS is a advantage, for example you've got your own dedicated specs, you have that 512MB of RAM for YOU and YOUR websites, not 100 other peoples and all of their websites as well!

You can even make some small-time extra cash from having a good VPS, selling space on it to your friends for their auto blogs/websites/spamming/whatever.
