I love scraping. It's one of the things I don't hate doing online.

When it comes to data mining, what are some profitable forms of that you would recommend?

I'm outlaying a startup that can accelerate with the help of data mining and scraping if you're interested in being part of a team.

Work as a freelancer on upwork with your scraping skills.. Selling data is impossible without a client to buy it.

For sure. What I'm asking is, what's the most profitable way of web data mining? What's in the highest demand at the moment?

Data Brokerage.

Identify valuable data.
Design mechanisms to acquire it.
Ensure systems are in place to validate the authenticity of the data.
Clean it to whatever degree needed.
Sell to those who want it, or monetise it yourself.

EG. in my niche (crypto) there's a fuck ton of data commonly available which is kind of valuable in its raw state from APIs/scraping.

But by processing a lot of it you can yield uncommon and much more valuable data that has a range of different end users, like crypto hedge funds, startups in the space, and if you want to do B2C then you can sell it directly to professional traders and algo traders.

The better you are at aligning end users with unique, processed data, the easier you'll find it to monetise. Scraping publicly available data and making good money from it is much less likely because everyone can get it.

Survey data and data relating to people is particularly valuable. If you find ways of acquiring data that is verifiably accurate about individuals it's worth a good amount. It's also a legal minefield.

In my opinion, the best thing is to create an analysis platform where you sell the data in a cleaned/processed form, and this can be expensive since you're gonna to collect a lot of data and store it in databases and process it which require compute expenses. that's a thing about data to really exploit you need to have big quantities aka "big data", I'm pretty sure that can proven statistically :).

Grouping. For instance, people from T1 countries would most likely convert for a CB offer compared to T3.

Scrape the patient list of a Urologist, 99.9% need viagra and are paying big money for it. Market generic viagra to them at $1.00 per pill compared to the high price they are paying. You do them a legitimate favor and you make affiliate commissions. You can do that all over the world.

Data is the new oil. If you can segregate potential lead audiences or website owners on a particular niche, someone will buy it from you.
Build an Upwork profile and buyers will contact you with their ideas. You'll keep growing idea pool that way.
