Keyword research, competition research and on-page seo. Couple that with your regular content and you'll be off to a good start.

You need to concentrate on getting a good amount of posts first before you worry about promotion. Who wants to visit a blog with hardly anything on it, it will push up your bounce rate

This is a great place to start.

You're going to want to think about tracking your traffic and conversion rates, planning content in advance (multiple 500+ word blog posts each week) , and then actually generating a return on investment.

Depending on your goals, there are a lot of different ways to plan your first few months.

Make sure you choose seo-friendly theme, post atleast once a week (you'll do 3 which is amazing). Make sure your site load fast, submit your site to search engines (Google, Yahoo, yandex, etc..) do a keyword research, make some backlinks to your blog (HQ and not spammy), always SEO your pictures (add ALT text, caption etc...), promote your posts on social media (Facebook, Google+, Twitter..), don't steal content, make sure your content in unique. Don't worry about monetizing, you need to get some traffic first.

Although I don't work with blogs, here are things I know just off the top of my head that you should have.

Relevant social media accounts, that are actually setup and professional looking. Use Canva for the design, its a free easy to use tool.
    - Don't setup a million accounts on different platforms that you won't dedicate time to.
    - Put work into them, with updates, posts, etc.
    - Grow an audience. It's harder than it sounds, but there's a million posts on how to grow your specific social media platform on the internet. You'll find a way if you're dedicated enough.

    Consistency
    - Write your posts in one day, schedule them on upload days, easiest way to be consistent.
    - Remember, your content is what fuels your blog, don't put up shit content.

I'd say be careful with backlinks. It's fine to put your link on another blogs comments IF ITS RELEVANT, and don't just put "check out my blog", be relevant and provide value to the people that are going to read the actual comment. Then you can backlink something relevant to the post. But, I'd be careful.

Overall, I'd just stick with white hat methods for growth. They're safe, and guaranteed to bring traffic if you stay dedicated.

You've probably heard this a million times, but KEEP AT IT!

I'm in the same boat with a new blog. Before joining here, I read alot of articles and watched videos of blogging and creating backlinks from them. I have alot of good content for my blog, most not posted yet, but it's information people find very valuable. My competition in my niche is overall weak, but they rank because they have their links. My question to add is to blogzandstuff... if I'm also posting 3 blogs per week, what's a good number to have before promoting? Is it wise to auto-post my blogs to my other accounts now?

Relevant content that your niche will appreciate...can rank as high as you want...of you got garbage on your page

Its hard to keep your market engaged, so make sure you have a clear understanding of what your niche likes to hear

This doesnt mean reinventing the wheel...most of this content already exists

Your own unique experiences, case studies if you have any and even popular existing content that you can make your own

Build it out...make sure you pack the pages out with good content..then just optimise it

Keeping up with you niche news and trends and buzz words.

Read a lot on the niche ,and re write it your way .

Blogging like a huge diary giving your aiuidnace a good time reading the niche your way.

    I suggest.

Get headphones with mic attached and use speaking dragon app, you talk and it types for you.

Can buy it altogether in a box on ebay or download the app on here and use your own headphones and mic.

Your be amazed how quick a 500 word article takes to make ....

    Good luck...

The key elements of a good blog are:
Content: that is why readers will want to stay with you. Make it unique, interesting and useful. For this study your competitors and write a better post than they do. Useful information will go shareable and you'll get traffic.
Design: make it user-friendly with clear blocks, visible menu, contacts etc.
SEO: to get traffic to your blog spend time on its optimization. Proper onpage and off page SEO will help search engines notice your blog and it will be showed to visitors.
