AC is all about traffic - use g00gle tr3nds (or similar) and figure out what has been consistently popular in terms of hot subjects and keywords. By consistent, I don't mean volcanic today - that screaming article you write about Eminem's death being a hoax won't even be approved until after it is yesterday's news. Instead, look for something that people search for all the time, and have for years.
Once you get a list of things that get high search volume (esp. in the US), then start pumping out the articles. Come up with a way of categorizing your articles (subject, length, tone, etc.)
After you have submitted 100 articles that you have categorized, compare how much money you get paid on each article.
Take your top performers (top 25% say), and come up with new variations on those subjects and/or other characteristics that you are tracking, and write another 100.
Do this over and over until you are satisfied with what they are paying you per article.
Remember, the kind of articles that work for someone else won't always work for you.
One final thought, though: Even though most of us here have messed around with AC for one reason or another, the truth is that you can make much more money if your articles are at all good, just about any other way. You can make your own blog empire, and make more that way. You can sell truly good articles to someone else for their blog empire. . .
Not to knock AC earning methods, but I would consider that technique to be very entry level. By all means, if you are dead broke, use AC to generate some cash, but parley that into something better ASAP.
