I'm only using this for rent/utilities/groceries, etc, not big amounts. Do you think putting bigger amounts there is fine or they'll ban? If kyc happens I can show supporting documents, will they release the funds or act psycho and take it all? Any experiences with using Wise for bigger amounts? Heard bad things and people recommended 'real' bank account instead.

I'll never trust a company to hold my money when I can't go to a physical office and confront them if they fuck me over.
Keep small amounts that you need on a weekly basis.
Same, but I have serious problems with my ex-country's 'normal' bank accounts and looking for some alternatives before I figure out something more stable. It's a bit problematic when you move to another country (ie they suddenly treat me worse than a foreigner at a bank I'm currently using). Also not really looking for an opinion (I have exactly the same as you, except 'normal' banks give me problems too... But Wise also did that before with some transfers), hoped someone had some experience... Maybe succeded at doing a bigger transfer, or got their money stolen by Wise and want to officially say it's right next to Scampal. Anyone?
Ohh, girl´s got big money now huh

Well, I opened a Wise account some years ago. paid for a card and submitted my documents 3 times that was legit, they declined my documents 3 times too .. so I´m not really found of them.
Yeah, right? Some smma kid bought coaching session from me (...hell yes, buhahaha) and wrote 'let's talk' in description, it got blocked. I was perplexed, but realized maybe they thought it was e-whoring xD. I mean they *eventually* released it, but damn. Problem is my normal bank acts no better than Wise now.

Anyway you can open a bank account in the country you are in now?

Try one of the bigger banks with offices all over the world, might be easier if they are present there.
Buhahaha, no, it's actually harder / impossible (requirements at HSBC are like wtf). Crazy amount of documents. Local banks are slightly better but seriously since switching countries I have a serious problem with having access to any banking at all. No joke. Now I understand why some of my polish clients that emigrated to other countries didn't have normal bank accounts, just Revolut (this has pl IBAN). It's crazy, they basically want all poles that emigrated to don't have bank accounts. This fuckin country gets busted for violating human rights every 5 fuckin seconds.

I transferred around 50-70k through wise within a year or so, and never had any issues until the day they emailed me to ask about where the money came from. But I had like a full month to answer back until the account gets closed down.

So that might be an option maybe then? Saw they have cards too.
Expensive

Did it get closed down?

you won't trigger their KYC unless you deposit or send large amounts ($50K+) and if you have all supporting documents, then you have nothing to worry about. They are a serious company and not looking to steal your money for no reason.

The bad things you heard about them are almost always coming from people who break their ToS (for example, sending or receiving funds from crypto exchanges) or people who don't have proper documentation. Even then, they still send your funds back and just shut down the account.

But I do agree with others a real bank is always preferable, if it is an option

ill nver put more than a few thousand in at once
and never keep it holding there for long
money should always be moving in and out
You should figure out your normal banking situation first
Wise is not an alternative.

Really?
HSBC was super easy to sign up for me
but they have stupid rules and constant verification that keep popping up throughout the year
just was such a hassle, still have mine opened but just sitting there with a few hundred in there to keep it "active"
