I'm following the black hat book but don't even manage #1 even on apparently easy keywords 170 exact (but talking about broad serps here). That is considered easy in SEO terms isn't it?- comp seems non existent/very low with only wikihow/hubpages type deals on front page.

I find I usually get some initial good spurts with AMR to put me on or near front page then I have been blasting round the clock with SB. I managed to get to number 4 and 5 for each of the keywords in question but even with SB still running AA lists round the clock my rank seems to be slipping for both.

This seems to be a common theme. I make it to the bottom rung of 1st page then my efforts seems to sputter to a stop as I run out of ideas and my ranks slowly follow suit creeping back again day after day. This is a pretty depressing scenario especially as I have a complex and check my serps like once every hour.

So what else can I do?

I have been doing- web 2.0 blasts. AMR blasts directly to site and also to web 2.0', SB AA blasts around the clock to AMR and web 2.0s. Also direct SB blasts to money site with self harvested context relevant blogs. I also got one high PR link that someone posted on here.

I've also been bookmarking and RSSing nearly all the above.

I have found so far that if I don't see relatively quick increases in serps then it doesn't happen at all. People say you should wait and let things get indexed but from experience when I wait I just lose more ranks and fall further behind.

This is an embarrassing state of affairs because at least with a highly competitive keyword it would be understandable but I haven't even been able to rank for these baby long tailers.

So I'm a bit stuck again not knowing what to do next.

One idea I had is to rebuild another pyramid like I stated above maybe two or 3 times over and link them again to money site. I'm skeptical about how much effect this would have though seeing as it's the exact same links all over again. People have been saying it will still pass juice but it doesn't seem to plausible to me. I'd like to get more confirmation one way or the other form other ppl's experience. It would be great if it did because I could just keep building them with little thought rinse and repeat til I got the result but like I say I don't see it as very plausible due to it being nearly all duplicate links.

Another thing I thought is get some xrumer blasts to juice things up.

Any other ideas? plus ideas on why I haven't yet reached number one on these easy keywords despite my efforts? Is this normal? From what I gather of other stories I thought it should be relatively easy to get to number one with these ones.

There isn't any competition in terms of SEO for these either. The number 1 in one case is wikihow but then again number one for the other is pr7 (but that is only the homepage and the specific number 1 page has no backlinks and isn't SEO'd to the keyword) but still I'm not even in the top 3 on that one???

    Suggestions?

It sounds like you are WAY overdoing things. I've gone after terms with that search volume. I get an EMD .info. I use the rapid indexer on bulkping once a week. Within a month I'm in the top five. If it needs a little extra I might do a few manual high pr comments. Done.

If no one else in the top 10 are getting links, which is usually the case when you go after 170 exact, if you get a ton of links you don't fit in.

Hmm, about a month you say?

What is this EMD acronym? I've seen it used before but dunno what it is.

Who cares if you don't fit in, it's not like there are google operatives monitoring every single longtail keyword for suspicious patterns :D.

Anyway SEO isn't illegal so I don't see a problem if you SEO'd it and ppl knew.

Thing is that I did it your way about a month ago and nothing which is why I cranked it up. All those above efforts have only got me to number 4 and 5 so far hence why I ask what is going on (like I say I will progressively creep down again if I don't keep hammering daily and aggressively- I had been doing the same on a 1k exact and got to page 4 but that one is quickly dying since I stopped taking daily action).

Interesting to hear you say it was easy tho which makes me more puzzled what's going on in my case...

    emd=exact match domain

If your term is red striped widgets, get redstripedwidgets.com

I think the algorithm does want you to fit in, though. The algorithm thinks it is super smart and already has ranked the best way possible. You want to play to its ego by making something similar to what it has already ranked.

I think the reason it was easy for me was because of the emd. No one is snatching up emd's for sites with only a few hundred searches.

Could be the age/page rank of your competitors. Just keep on creating backlinks and blasting with AMR. Don't overthink or overdo things, move onto the next project. Eventually you'll figure it out.

Also, i'd like to add that perhaps it could be the link strength of your competition. You say you're blasting AA lists, they could be overdone and spammed. Try and see if you can do a few link swaps with other sites in your niche and get some valuable links going to your site.

AMR effect I guess. Ive been using AMR but I stopped after some bad results happening. There was a thread here that has been asking opinions regarding AMR giving them bad results now.
