I literally just discovered that you can add an API for your eBay seller account to accept different providers instead of PayPal.

What are the less strict lesser fees companies? Even if it cost a little more than PayPal it will be worth it to not need to deal with PayPal BS. Is that true?

I heard 2checkout is good and buyers can still Pay with PayPal but the money goes to 2checkout is that true?

If this is true I would like to know about it as well. Paypal is bs and anyway of avoiding it would be amazing.

I prefer Stripe to PayPal, and Stripe has API, don't use eBay though, but found this:
    Code:
    https://zapier.com/zapbook/ebay/stripe/

BUMP - I would like to know as well about this!
I didn't see any option on eBay for adding other payment methods. The problem is almost 90% of eBay users accept Paypal as a payment method.

I haven't created my stealth eBay yet so o haven't explored but from what I read online you can creat a account with a different merchant then take the API and account number and add it to eBay so your patents are directed there.

I'm not so sure that's true now since no one on this forum A's came forward to know anything about it. But if you google "eBay alternative merchant accounts" you will see some things

AFAIK, that only applies to Pre 2007 accounts with selling history before then.

Well, let's just say there's a reason why those accounts sometimes go for thousands of dollars.

I'm not 100% sure, but way I understand it is eBay will approve 3rd party gateways if you have can pass their internal risk assessment, but if you can do so, you wouldn't be having problem with paypal in the first place.

Theoretically you can. Just like theoretically you can bone Scarlett Johansson tonight. But since you would need a merchant account to process payment, and they will check your credit and everything to a much deeper degree than paypal, there's no point for most people. This is for US. If you are outside US things may be different.

Im confused. Is it hard to get a merchant account for say 2checkout? And then pair that with payflow? And set up the eBay account to use that?

All "legit" payment processors will require the real name and SS# of the owner, tax id for business, etc, and do a credit check, and they will do the same things that paypal would do, like hold your money if you do risky transactions, refund the buyer on chaegebacks with no proof, etc. Actually in my experience they're more pain in the ass than paypal. So you see unless you are talking about big savings on process fees, there's no real reasons to switch. There may be some shady processors who will sign you up at rip off rates, but ebay wont let you use them, IIRC.

oh I see, so these processors will also hold you payments and stuff? I was going to give PayPal my ein anyways so I'm not to worried about doing that with a different company either

Yes, for example if you start getting chargebacks, they can put a rolling reserve where they'll hold $5K or 20% of your monthly charges, whatever is higher. And also in my experience it's a lot easier for buyer to do chargeback scams against you if you use a payment processor.

It's not just a matter of giving EIN. They may want a business license. Payment processors will want you to personally guarantee the account. So they will want your personal SS# and info.

I believe that you can use skrill on ebay if you live in Europe. I am not sure if it works for USA.

Okay well I guess I will just rolling with PayPal I just hate how they can take not 20% but all of the money in your account for 6months.
