A quick list of the WH tools that I use that I really don't see anyone talking about. PLUS MOST IMPORTANTLY how I actually use them
Most of these are site set-up and content creation tools - no BH stuff here (not even any GH).
I just don't see these mentioned, and they are vital for me.

    Just a heads up :D

    Here goes;

    • ARTISTEER (TORRENT) - Creates WP templates exactly how you want them. Headers, colours,sidebars,fonts,shadows,flash..I can't think of anything this doesn't do. I make Templates that look exactly like long form sales pages with all the addons. I also use it to create affilate sales pages that look and feel exactly like the sales page of the site I'm promoting (I use different text and content - but customers don't like being "jarred" by a change of style half way through the buying process. All in all, for the price it's bloody great.
    • DRAGON NATURALLY SPEAKING (TORRENT) - I've mentioned this before. It's the best Speech to Text package available. (far better than Via Voice). With a few days training in your accent it will massively increase your output for written content. There are torrents for Version 10 English all over the net.
Example. I have done 75 x 500 word articles, and edited them - all with keyword percentages etc etc in less than a day. Just by speaking.
I even take a mic and MP3 recorded when I'm taking the dog for a walk and mutter out 4 or 5 articles as I'm on the go.

    • OPENOFFICE (FREE) - Making video presentations using the "Impress" module is a piece of cake. The "Draw" module has a lot of good functionality. You can turn some simple downloaded images into snazzy header graphics or article images in seconds/minutes with it. The whole package has a direct "convert to PDF" button.
Ok so here's what I do. Make a vid - a slide show use Camtasia or Windows Live Vid. Then once I've done that, I can use this file again. Add a lot on information about the product I'm selling to the slides I created. A straight cut and paste from Wiki or authority sites - a five minute job. The package it up as a PDF and put it on a page for people to download who sign up to my sites "Download The Best xxxx Guide free" signup stuff. You could even PAD it with a pad creator tool. THen you would have so many places to post it too you'd have links all over the place (remember to put links in the PDF to your pages/products)

You have a product in 5 minutes FLAT Because it's sealed in a PDF then the fact it's all scraped information cut and pasted from other sites doesn't matter at all!

    • WINDOWS LIVE WRITER (FREE) - Yes it's a microsoft product. But I would never post without it. It downloads your theme so you get true WYSIWYG, it is stable and integrates with spellcheckers and what-not. Adding tables, images(to which it will add nice effects like shadow, reflection, borders etc etc) is so simple an idiot could do it. Then press "upload" and it's done
PLUS - HOW MANY OF YOU WHO USE THIS KNOW IT HAS A MASSIVE NUMBER OF PLUGINS?

Seriously from slide shows, MP3 players, Video embeds (with formatting that Youtube embeds often lose) graphic enhancement, TAG fetching and filtering, linking tools - you name it, Live writer has them, They are all FREE.

If you've ever watched someone trying to write a complex post inside Wordpress or Blogger's built in editor = well it's enough to make you want to cry. It's such a monumental pain in the arse! The HTML editor "jumps" every time you enter a character (leaving you to search and find the bloody cursor again)

You get none of this crap with Live writer.

PLUS (there's more) There are some "Dark" plugins for it as well - One's that do a little more than Microsoft would like you to. But as I said this was a WH post I'll leave you to find them (type "Live Writer plugin" into Google - it wil take you 5 minutes to find them) These include spinner integration and the ability to post spun articles to multiple blogs with one click. Yup this is a Microsoft product!

    • A GOOD MICROPHONE - Whether you are going to make your own vids - or use speech to text - you really need a decent one. They don't cost a lot. Ones that come with $50 headsets are ok. Those that come with $20 headsets tend to be shite. USB is much preferrable to a jack plug as well
    • CAMTASIA (TORRENT)- If you are doing a lot of vids download this. It's a real time saver. It's easier to use than the Windows version, and is very customizable. (Having said that the Windows version is ok) Again this is on torrents and news sites all over the place
    • A SECOND SCREEN - Cost me $145, and was the best feature upgrade I ever bought for my PC. With editors, GFX packages, notepad files full of passwords, e-mail etc open all over the place, one screen wasn't cutting the musters. SEO and IM use a lot of varied tools. Treat yourself to some extra graphics real estate.
Along with a decent plugin pack for WP (if that's the platform you use), a decent hosting account and an understanding of Googles keyword tool - your off.

I also use three or four "naughty" programs as well. But that's not for here.

    Scritty

Oh, I forgot a vital tool. Well not really a tool. But a rapidshre account and maybe a newsreader account. About $5 a month. Download the stuff you shouldn't have at full internet speed (rather than watch some torrents click along at 1.5k a second)

Xpollinate is the Live Writer plugin to post to many blogs simultaneously. I think you can add textfetch.exe to it to integrate a text spinner between submits.

If you use BAS and add a ton of your own customization, then this is a simple and barely "grey" hat way of managing many blogs, perhaps in a link-ring, with one press of a button.

The text spinner is any text spinner. The app is "text fetch" which - take the text and swaps it in livewriter.

    Any text spinner will work

Artisteer is a very powerful tool.

I make affiliate pages that are almost exact copies of the original page.

First I check out the page, then I set the artisteer up and save. Upload theme to wordpress.

Download theme from WP to Live writer, go to products home page Cntrl A, Cntrl C, then back to live writer, Cntrl V.

10 minutes tinkering, a direct link to the vendor with my affiliate link, and job done.

PM me and I'll show you a page for a clickbank product I made in 20 minutes. A pretty sizeable long form sales page with video's and gifs.

It's not perfect, but for ten minutes it's pretty darn good,

Artisteer can make WP look like it's not WP. headers. no headers, side bars - no sidebars, widths, fonts, menu's, background, foreground, flash everything you could think of. Right down to putting your own name in as the template designer.

(Oh and unique templates for niches make a great gift to entice people to sign up to your site)

I agree with you about most of those! I completely agree with you with regards to the Windows Live Checker!

I don't like WordPress though. For me, it's all about Joomla !!

Artisteer does Joomla as well (and Blogger, Drupal. .Net Nuke, Plain HTML output, Asp)

I'm always staggered so few people know about it.

Having said that - Xsite Pro sometimes is a little better. It doesn't require it's own Mysql DB either (which if you've gone for very cheap hosting - or want to cram as many microsites into your hostingh account as possible, is worrth thinking about)

My record for stable use, on a $80 a year or less hosting package is 17 sites and about 30 subdomains (some sites has SD's some didn't)

That was all wordpress, and no site got over 800 visits a day, all sites were 50 pages or UNDER.

(Actually that's not true, one had about 300 pages and posts, but very little in the way of GFX)

Openoffice is really awesome---I always suggest it to my writers and stuff when they are having problems with Word...plus it's free and they do have updates...its made by Sun Microsystems so they have the money to throw behind it as well

The only downside is it is not really compatible with Office as far as VB goes.

I wrote my own autoresponder in Excel

    BTW this is seriously simple.

It didn't do everything, you had to import the e-mail addresses first - but I wanted some control over the version of reply my prospective clients got - a blanket reply wasn't cutting it conversions wise.

Some I could cut to the chase after 1 mail - others had standard questions that needed answering (roughly the same everytime) I ended up having three or four templates and just having a list of emails in column a, a list of first names in column b and the template in column c (100 replies took about 15 minutes to configure) press a button, and personalized templates went out to each client.

Replies in differnt tabs - a quick "concatenate" and bob's your uncle

Worked a treat till my volumns passed the 1500 a day mark.

Anywho - tried to run it with OPenoffice script - and I couldn't even get it to talk to MS Livemail or MS Mail without glitches.

That aside, the software is great. The convert to PDF function for slideshows done in "Impress" means you make a slide video, upload it, then add scraped content to pad it out. Put on a cover, press "convert to PDF" and you have an e-book to bait people to get into you mailing list - all for ..oooh 5 minutes extra work.

Draw is also great. I make web banners and site headers with it all the time. Google suitable graphics, add the custom text, fiddle with it, export it, use something as simple as Irfanview to clip and resize it - job done - 5 minutes for respectable multi layered headers and banners.

I'm always thinking of using the cheapest thing I can find to make something that adds value in as short a time as possible for as little effort as possible.
    :D

    Addition.

Use Livewriter in firefox with a quick Imacros script to post to multiple blogs at once. Seriously simple.

Also, coming later this year, a grayhat offline blogging platform (about bloody time) I believe it's going to be called BloggingDemon

It will include blog creation, content spinning, multiple blog uploads (with proxies). scheduled posting, auto commenting as well as some nice tools to ping and submit.

The name suggests it's from BMdemon people, but I'm just guessing here, but the ability to make a really good blog "link ring" that could be created, filled, pinged and bookmarked all on autopilot - all on a schedule to make it believeable - well that would be a great asset.

Hoping it's a one off price (and less than $150) I won't be buying it if it's subscription.

For people who write a lot of content[especially for article marketers]:

letmetype tool is a must :
    Code:
    http://www.clasohm.com/lmt/en/
This will allow you to auto-complete words easily.just try it and you will be wowed. And it works in all text editors [globally] - not like in word.

I personally think Artisteer takes out all the fun of designing something. I love coding, and when you're coding and designing something off your own back with your own head and a little bit of research to be able to work with some seriously advanced software such as Joomla! or WordPress ... you get that small sense of Achivement and happiness that you actually managed to do it! :)

But hey, most people haven't got the time or interest - So I guess it's just me! ;) :p

Is it a bit like that T9 language when texting? If I'm honest, I've gotten to a point now where I can type with my eyes closes and a seriously fast level! ;) :p

So I think something like that would hinder me more than anything! But hey I'm sure lots of people here will find that very useful so thank you! :)

Good tools, I use Dragon Naturally Speaking(DNP) and Open Office, man DNP is so powerful...
@scritty: It seems you have much experience with Artisteer, personally I've never used it before, so what's the difference if you rip a landing page with a tool like httrack and create a exact looking LP with Artisteer?
Is Artisteer better than Xsite Pro?
