I went to a casino last night and played some sit and go 1 2 no limit. I bought in with 50 and four hours later left with 220. I was pretty surprised. I know im good, but i figured id fail being my first time lol

Figure this might be a good way to get some start up money.

Anyone here ever utilize casino sit and go's to make money?

Do you generally play online? I am asking because a friend of mine plays online, then enters local tournaments and cleans up. He is playing sit "N" go tourney's. I used to dabble online, heads up was my forte. The swings get crazy the highs and lows, I had to quit.

    Nice 'humble brag'!

what are you better at? Poker or IM. If you say poker maybe that's your start up for a poker career, not an IM project.

Oh man... If you ever start to make a lot of money. Take my advice as someone that's been there and stay away from the casino or private clubs... I was making 30-40k a month at one point before all these penguin and panda updates and I fucking would spend 30k a month on poker.

I'm not a bad player, pretty good actually. It was just a lack of respect for money, and playing extremely lose.

I just cashed out 12k online on fulltilt, but I'm pretty much done with poker. It eats your fucking soul.
Play a few tourny's, that's cool. But cash game...

I started playing omaha 1/2 bring in 5, and the game was getting huge. playing like a 5-10 game. 80k on the table, etc.

Anyways, that's my tangent... hope you consider it. There's a lot of money in IM, and you can sink into a dark hole, or live your life in some sort of light with the wealth that this brings.

Invest your money, and even more so; your time.

Real life games are good if you are good. Meaning disciplined, professional and treat it like a business. It's 1 in 100k that can do that.

Bro, if you see my username you might expect I play a bit of cards and I do.. Don't consider yourself good playing at 1/2... Go 10/20 and up then actually get some experience.. You can keep playing with the bottom feeders if you wish and grind it out but your "skill" isn't shit until you go play with the big boys!! Just sayin...

Yea im not too concerned with proving myself as a skilled player sir. Im concerned with making what money I can. And heres some humility from me: that fifty dollars was all i had to my name. In fact it was borrowed, moreso offered from a friend because he wanted to take a cut of my winnings.

Im not claiming to be a poker master. But obviously im good enough to make money at it.

Petrovski, yes ive played online for years but mostly ive just played informal tournaments. My family are big gamblers and my cousin is a dealer, hes who taught me to really play.

I figure ill try again next week and see how it goes. Part of me thinks because i was so broke the money meant alot more to me so i played much harder than those there recreationally. That and i dont drink haha.

I just see an opportunity here to cash in on some much needed start up money.

Because when i say i was broke, i mean absolutely no money but some nickles and pennies on my dresser.

Can you go to the casino and win everyday?
if today you win $10 000, tomorrow you gonna lose $20 000.. for sure. At the end you will always be a loser.

This is gonna be useless but take it from an ex-fulltimer there is nothing in your posts that makes this obvious. Being up after 4 hours is like having 2 clicks on your adsense after your first day and thinking "Wow with this CTR and this CPM I'm gonna be rich soon" having e-mailed your site to your sister and your mom.

You can make money with it but currently I feel IM is easier and it offers better long term perspectives. Maybe if the US legalizes online poker 100% it's a different story. If you want to afford a decent or even a humble lifestyle on playing live poker you need a pretty sick bankroll too. You would be surprised how much of a buffer you would need to get through the variance (in the wrong direction)

Anyway that's my 2 cents. GL

Poker is fundamentally different from most casino games because you play both against the house (which cannot lose and is always winning) and other players.

The way to make money is to win so hard against the other players you can afford to lose to the house.

About other Casino games they are designed to take your money over large sample sizes. One game is less disadvantageous then another. However there are also Casino "blackhatters" but they are extremely rare and depending on your country/state you can get into trouble from jailtime to physical punishment.

I was playing in a real, legal casino in cleveland.

Im not considering this full time, but im considering repeating it to get money to start my IM ventures.

The fact that it took four hours means i didnt just get lucky on a few big hands and walked out. The point being i obviously had the sense to adapt to the table, quadruple my money and walk away.

I feel confident i could do it again, but still cautious.

I don't know what they're talking about playing against players AND the house in a cash game at a casino poker room. You play against other people, the casino just takes a "rake" from every hand (a small percentage of the pot). Blackskullz doesn't know what he's talking about.....his statement may be true with sucker games such a carribean stud, 3 card poker, blackjack, slot machines, roulette, craps, etc, but poker is much different. There are plenty of people who play for a living and do quite well.
