I'm back in a regular job. My online stuff just went downhill.

But a regular job, talk about depressing. The money is terrible and 5 days out of every 7 of my life are given to my employer :(

When someone crashes, telling him there are horrible pains in the world he doesn't have isn't exactly comforting ;)

    @OP

Don't worry man, as Panther28 said, take the opportunity to regroup and build. Sometimes we need to take a step back. As long as you don't quit trying, you 'll be ok.

OP: Take the money from your regular job, invest in some expired domains on the auctions of godaddy. Then build the site around keyword research and make some money. Perhaps sell the website. Or you can even check this thread for more methods.

Take this opportunity to analyze why your business went downhill and the start rebuilding in the evenings and on weekends. Will be hard, but can be done and you can re-build stronger

Think of all the positives here.

    1. You will have money to invest
    2. You have a chance to get away from the monotony that is affiliate marketing.
    3. You will come back hungrier than ever
    4. You can clear your head to think about what went wrong
    5. You didn't quit, you kept pushing, which is what will make you succeed in the end.

On these two days I am extremely depressed about facing work again on Monday. I remember I was like this before I went full-time too. I can't physically do any IM work. Outsourcing would be the only way but I have never made a return on it before. The work was too low quality or expensive. Right now, I live like a hermit as I must pay off debt.

Why should I be grateful for being a slave? I don't have any nearby family or network and no subsidised housing. No welfare and no possibility of welfare.

OH come on, you make it sound like making money is easy. It ain't.

My business went down the pan because my activities all had limits to their scalability and also stopped working for various reasons. I know how it works: you identify your winners and try to expand further but, for these reasons, it was not possible.

Yeah I just hope you're not too much in debt, if at all. My saving grace is that I still have some automatic income coming in while I'm working. Unfortunately, salaries have dived in this economy and are at like 2003 levels. My salary barely covers my living expenses and it's only because of my online stuff that I can save anything.

First I have debt to clear but, yeah, I will then have money to invest.

My biggest problem now is that I am staring down the barrel of a lifelong existence working like a slave for the rest of my life.

Seriously, once you've tasted that freedom, it makes it 10 times harder to go back. I just can't handle it.

It's like seeing The Matrix and then being forced to live in it again. Everyone around you doesn't care because it's all they know, but you have known better and are forced to swallow it. I don't know how much longer I can take this for...

Use that to drive your will to make your fortune.

I 'd suggest taking a break for a little while. Give yourself a rest from whatever activities possible and work on your personal life. Meet new people and make new friends. It will help you recharge your batteries and come back stronger.

Trust me i feel your pain, I lost my 3700 square ft house, my 2010 Ford Explorer, and almost everything I knew and had because of a huge tax bill. I don't think you will be working for an employer for the rest of your life because it seems like that is not you. Most of us in this business have entrepreneurship coursing through our veins which is why we are in this biz in the first place.

Yes the freedom is great. But you will do it again. I have always heard "Go get a real job" from people that are just drones that could never grasp the concept. You, me and many others here refuse to accept the drone mentality. Keep your spirits up and never quit. It won't be long before you are once again making your own rules, your own hours, and grabbing life by the balls again.

How can I take a break when I need money? I will go back into debt again. To meet people, you need money for transport (to get there) and to buy drinks etc. Right now, I live like a hermit, I can't see friends anymore (or new friends) because I can't afford to go see them. Even if I did, you can't share activities that involve spending when you don't have any money.

Although actually I am thinking of taking that advice. There is the fear of going straight back to debt again. My life is just sideways for the last five years and my mother getting sick with worry with how I am constantly "trying again". This will be like the 3rd or 4th time.

You should assume you have to try 100 times.

When you have to shoot shoot, don't talk.

C'mon, you do find time to post on the forum, no? Start recording your daily activities in detail - you 'll see you can remove redundant ones and optimize the rest to free up some time.

I assumed you lived in a city. If you are on a remote area, transportation is an issue indeed. But even so, you have options - people drive to town for their own work/shopping, ask for a ride.

Meeting new people does not mean going to a bar. There should be group activities sponsored by the local communities and free to join. Classes to learn skills. Things like that.

4th? That 's nothing. Keep going!

Some of the most successful businesses I know started while the person was working a '9-5' somewhere else and then pumping that money into their business. Get those debts paid down, but after that it sounds like you're on the right track! Save all the money you can and use it to fund your online ventures. Setup a goal sheet in Google docs and share it with a trusted friend or family (maybe have them do the same) so that you keep each other motivated. I do this with a few friends and it is HUGE for staying on track when my good friend asks me what I did that day, and when all I can truthfully say is sat around it really hits home and makes me want to be better the next day.

There are good things about having a job. Anyone who's ever been self employed knows they miss that super simple, easy job they had before they had the idea to bust out on their own.

I have absolutely no patience and tolerance for any superior over me whom I don't respect as a leader. That's why I'll never work for anyone again. It's more of a personality flaw. People these days don't care about honor, or integrity. In a lot of corporate environments you have to screw people to get ahead, and I'm just not a fan.

Don't let anyone give you any flack about working. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Don't let it get you down. There is no reason for depression, ever.

I watched a really interesting documentary on netflix the other day "Holes In My Shoes". I recommend anyone watch it. There's a great line it - "my Dad always said "Be the best at everything you do."

Even though you may have a job, and maybe it sucks, and maybe it's annoying... dude, just make the best of it.

I actually have 2 "day jobs" and I still have a lot of time to work on IM. Why throw the other money away when you can do both is my philosophy. I make 7k per month with my regular jobs and I use a good portion of it towards my IM endeavors. It is the only way to go in my opinion. If you have a bad month online you still have your jobs to fall back on. Perfectly logical imo

Your knowledge puts you in a select position with mostly secret knowledge and EXPERIENCE of
how to multiply your income and become, eventually, self employed again. ;)

To work like a slave for another is depressing, true. But, it does keep you from starving for now.

How about you pick up that book thing? I know you only have one that works right now but perhaps you can write one a week. That doesn't cost you anything but time.
You could write a book a day you said, surely you can find time during the week(end)?
I know that book was in a special niche but with enough books out there you would only need to sell a title once every five years if you have enough of them out there.

Like bertbaby said before: Use this as a motivator.
Some need to see a guy with no hands to find motivation, others get negative motivation. Looks like you drew the short straw.

But to be honest, it looks like you just need a hug. When we fall we sometimes cry and this is good. To get up after that cry is what its all about in life.
Take the job, do the IM thing on the side till it is big enough to take over.

    Don't stay down: Fight!
Either you fight and make this job a temporary thing, or you roll over and keep slaving till you die.
    Your choice. :)
