Well, I lucked out and found a willing client for SEO services.
However, he wants me to prove what I can do first. He shared one post in particular, it's a hubspot blog post.
He wants me to propose something on making that post popular, even viral.
And he wants some sort of metrics, or something to shoot for.

The questions: how to price this.. It's a business related page B2B stuff.
Next question - how to set metrics..

I'm pretty sure if I pdf up the piece, distribute it on document sharing, a few personal portfolio pieces, etc.< that's my plan, along with some outsourced heavy duty links, etc.
    Thanks..

Before anyone takes the high road, don't do it approach, I already write for this business, and I sold myself as SEO expert, which they now want...

There is a lot of reasons why one niche test wont work out well... You should make a test of 10 different posts and judged by the average outcome.

Or just nip the debate in the bud and make part of your income based on commissions tiers.

For in-house SEO the big money is in commissions... if you are awesome at what you do then a % of new money usually is better than a lower % of overall SEO revenue.

You have to dial in your SEO revenue reporting though... I know a lot of SEOs are afraid to do that.

No matter what expand the challenge to be a more fair test for you. Like they pick 5 they want you to boost and you pick 5 you think they should boost... If your five outperform their picks... that will be a huge win for you.

    Cheers
