Hi all,

A client of mine is launching his product in mainland China (High end Spirit).
We are currently looking into all different options concerning social media marketing in China.

Anyone who is familiar?
Does it has to be done in Chinese or is English a possibility?

Any referral to guides / bots / services would be great.

Thank you

I would not try doing it in English. Chinese consumers appreciate brands that care for their language and culture.

Influencer marketing is quite big in China, although it is way different than how it is done in the West. If you hire someone to handle the influencer marketing, make sure it is an experienced guy/gal from China, as a westerner may possibly have a hard time grasping the concepts of Chinese influencer marketing for some time. Anyhow, I would go that way.

I wouldn't use any bots, and sadly can't recommend any guide or service, but in my opinion being there (in China) is an important part of everything.

Whatever you do, you need to learn how to use Chinese SM thoroughly before jumping in, or hire someone who knows what he/she is doing. All the articles you can find about how Weibo is just a Chinese Twitter and other stuff like that are bullshit. Sure they are similar on the surface, but the way consumers and brands use them are completely different. A western social media management approach to a Chinese social media will fail.

Oh, and make sure you let the clients pay using 微信. It is a big bonus point.

Greetings from China!
For you questions:
1- Yes! Altough most Chinese start learning English since primary school, they don't use them very much in daily life. So using English to create an account is definately a NO NO.
2- Bots for what? fake followers? comments? retweets? it depends on what your marketing strategy is!

I will be very happy to talk to you privately if you need any help.

What a surprise the marketing on Weibo. I learnt they don't really take much consideration over there in terms of packaging as long as they can receive the product. That goes to show why whenever ordered something there, the package is decent or wrapped around. I hope you can get through especially with the tarriffs, but due to that, they no longer buy iphones and encourage China products more.

I am now in Taiwan! frequently visit china!
No need the bots! Lots of Chinese are cheap, so lots of Chinese teams, do marketing using the manual as Bot!
If you do not know what's the "manual as Bot", learn Foxconn!
