[Weekend Thread] How did you end up where you are right now?

It's the weekend! Let's all take a moment to step back and see how far we've all come.

So going back to the good old days... What polarized you into doing IM full-time or whatever business you are in right now? Was it because you saw an ad online or started your career working in a digital marketing agency... It always fascinates me how one thing leads to another.

For me, I'm currently doing IM on the side hopefully I will stumble upon something I can do full-time by this year. I'm quite happy about it being able to pay for rent and fund my weekend dates.

My 9-5 job is great! I'm a Cybersecurity salesman for Enterprises (Endpoint security, UTMs, SIEMS, WAF, Anti-DDoS, and etc.)

Though the pay is good and the opportunity for growth is huge. I still want to eventually start my own business to buy myself FREEDOM to spend time with my future kids.

I know I sound like I'm all around the place but hey it's okay! I'll figure it out one day... Life ain't worth living if you got it all figured out before you hit puberty.

I was already working as a shop manager and selling stuff on eBay then I kept hearing this word or term of "SEO" at first I thought it was kind of a scam since it did not make sense to me then I became friends with fairly famous Russian guy me and him got into talks about SEO and programming after a bit of chatting he convinced me to take SEO more serious so after that, I rocketed my Adsense sales quite fast then I started doing SEO much more often.

Exactly! I totally get what you mean. I think I'm in that bartending phase of yours right now.

I was working in the building construction industry. Being on construction sites was wearing me down, wanted something a little more mentally engaging. Transitioned into article writing, freelance jobs online, back when upwork was "Elance". Eventually got into white hat local SEO, stayed in it for a few years. Got into black hat and BHW earlier this year.

I guess you are right.

I never really had any bills to start with when I left college and university I made semi decent money from smart money management skills such as I left college and university with like £7000 in profit.

For me it was very easy to go to parties all the time without spending giant money or go clubbing or bars all the time and still make okay sort of money.

I would say I am in the middle about around 9 years so far done SEO.

I studied Communication at the uni and I immediately found an intern position as a journalist in a big channel here. I liked it at first but then I got really disgusted about the fact that most of the journalists here are corrupted. There are some censorship that the general public isn't even aware of. A few months into that and I started to search for new job offers. Eventually, I stumbled upon a freelance position as a writer that payed well. That's how I became a full time writer ten years ago.

For IM, my IM adventure started two years after my freelancing adventure. I found out that what I may earn can change on a monthly basis. So in 2013, I started to create Wordpress websites, to do dropshipping, PPC and all of that in order to earn more. I fell into some guru bullshit too in the meantime. But then I discovered BHW around 2017 and it helped me a lot ever since.

And here we are now.
