From february 2007? how did the guy not have time to run away with all the money? anyway, he got his comeuppance, deserves a good kick in the balls. Not sure that taking 6 years to get him in court is really going to dissuade many others though...

At last long overdue, better late than never...

Thanks OP, hope this gets a lot of publicity as warning to others who use the same fraudulent practices...

That's a great step forwards and as you say, it will hopefully be good for the industry. At the very least it will make people think twice before starting down the 'scamming' road.

The trouble is, too many people think the internet either minimises the severity of their fraudulent activities or gives them anonymity.

As the idiot who scammed G-S-T found out yesterday, this is not the case.

One got caught an other 1.000 not. I don't think this will stop such scam activities.

Sure it won't - similarly to how putting images of dying people and half-destroyed lungs on cigarette packets won't stop smoking. But it's a step in the right direction and an important precedent regardless!

Flippa should be hauled up before the courts as well. They knowingly allow the sale of fraudulent sites. There are numerous posts out there and some in great detail explaining how flippa turns a blind eye to these scams and especially shill bidding. I've personally had multiple experiences of trying to report obvious scam auctions to flippa, only to have my comments removed and warned by flippa to stop posting, even though all my comments were factual and sale related.

This is a clear example of what I'm talking about. This guy could not have done more in depth research to out this scammer. Yet, look in the comments section. Ophelia (Flippa's spokesperson) completely denies that this person can be a scammer? The evidence is so obvious yet they choose to ignore it. Same story I got everytime I tried to report an auction.

    Get your act together flippa.

I read the article but it never mentioned did he faked the earnings? What if a site which I redirect the vistors straight to vendor site, is this against the law too? Damn got one site wanna let go as earning start dropping, but is a redirected sales site.

He faked adsense earnings on sites that were not even adsense compliant. He also faked aliases and was an old school fraudster.

I bet if he got caught in the Philippines he'd be out in a few days. Not much control and laws on internet transactions here. :)

Yep, third world countries that have relaxed laws on internet fraud (and fraud in general) are the main reason why this industry is what it is.

It's a little bit sad really as what it has come down to is people being unwilling to do any deals with people/companies from certain countries that are known for high levels of fraud, effectively making it difficult or impossible for people from these countries to conduct business, due to some outlaws using the lack of law enforcement to their advantage.

Yeah I know many sellers that won't accept bids from a large list of such Countries.

When considering a property purchase the seller's Country of Origin is not a metric to be overlooked or taken lightly, especially on Flippa. Seasoned buyers will consider this metric first and end further consideration on the property if the seller is from a list of Countries well known for fraud.

Thanks OP,This one is a good share!

I really hope more people get to know about this so that scammers would be scared to do something like this!

This is definitely a step in the right direction!

US laws just keep amazing me. Why the maximum potential sentence is so small for money related crimes? I would understand 20 years sentence if he murdered someone in a cold blood and then raped the corpse, but hey we're speaking about site flipping here - he should serve life-sentence, then be shot and crucified.

Seems like there are always bottom feeds willing to do anything for a buck. I've been desperate but just blatantly ripping someone off has never been an option.
