Damn, I don't know what the hell happend. My site which I had for 3 years was ranking perfectly fine and then starting on the 22nd of this month I noticed I was getting only half the traffic I was getting before. Now today when I checked my site, I notice that I am not even in google index anymore, all 10k pages deindexed...

    This crap ruined my day...

I checked my backlinks, and it doesn't seem link any negative SEO was done to my site, I did not receive any webmaster tools warnings (except for maybe a few soft 404 errors) which was about 2 weeks ago and I already took care of them.

Can anyone shed some light as to why was my site randomly deindexed after all these years?

    Who knows how google works
It it was a penalty you may have been able to save it

My best advice is get a new domain and do a 301 redirect

This might not last forever but should restore your income while you come up
    with another plan

Maybe is a temporary thing... from your details I can't figure out what happened, but keep in mind G is a biatch, something you can't put your trust on forever.

If more than week passes without changes then it may be permanent, and its time to try and make some changes, or move on.

Thanks, I was thinking the same thing. I just hate the fact that it's a brandable domain, but at the moment my income pretty much dropped to penny's, right when I was in the process of diversifying my traffic source..

I guess when it rains it pours, thanks for your suggestion.

Thanks, I'll give it a few more day's before I 301 the site. But usally in situations like getting deindexed, it rarely ever comes back. But you never know...

Also, I forgot to mention in the OP that I did evaluate my source code (to the best of my ability) and I did not notice any hidden links (just encase my site got hacked) which I don't think it did.

I believe the de-index is temporary, but the drop in rankings is real. If you're backlinks aren't changing, then it's probably google that is changing. This is a very tough question and that's the best answer I can give.

Edit: It could also be manual action, but I doubt it because usually they will send you a message (not all the time though).

I hope so, I'll give it some time like thetraveller suggested and see if it re-appears. If not, 301 will be my only option besides submitting a reconsideration request.

I know this is a tough question to answer, thanks for your help!

Edit: Yes, you could be right on that, I did not even factor that in. I guess one sure fire way of knowing if it was a manual auction would be to submit a reconsideration request. I'll do that first just to see what google says. I know they won't give me any detailed info but at least they should tell me if I violated their guidelines or if it was an algorithmic change.

Just an update for everyone, it was a manual action..

I did not know google allowed you to check (within webmaster tools) to see if you've gotten a manual action and what they've found.

Google thinks my site has spammy pages form what the manual action notice says...

Regardless, I guess it's back to the drawing boards..

You might have done something that violates google webmaster guidelines, you can send reconsideration request to google, but it is very difficult to bring the site back once it gets penalized. You better start building a new one.

Thanks for that, I think I might try and rank this site with bing and yahoo since it seems like it would be far more easier to work on my other project and just put this on the back burner.

Reconsideration mail to google would help you..
Check your site status, whether in the sandbox or not..
I had a situation, my client site was in sandbox, But to wonder- the reconsideration mail to google, helped me..
