Website in a really strange filter

    Hi all,

I'm quite experienced within SEO and all my websites usually rank well but I recently bumped into something really strange.

Well one of my websites were ranking top 10 for a keyword which gave it some visitors each and everyday. Back then I haven't built a lot of backlinks but mostly the good on page seo and great content were giving it it's position.

Then I decided to build some backlinks to give it a top 3 position and I do this with lots of websites.
Just after 4 days, the site was gone.
When doing a site:domain.com search, it is actually indexed and all, but it's now gone from the serp.

The even more strange thing is that pages such as "about us" and "contact page" are ranking in top 100, but the main page isn't nowhere to be found until top 700.

I have added a little content, changed design, built some more links but nothing happened.

Anyone bumped into a similar thing?
    Would appreciate any help given.

    Regards

That's normal. I continually build a lot of links to my site with a lot of competition and it was ranking 150 for a week, dropped out of all the SERPs, came back around the same spot a week later, now dropped out of the top 1000.

Well sanbox is when your site isn't even indexed, but my website is indexed, it's just weird that the mainpage doesn't rank well but the other pages are ranking well.

I think it's a filter, I have removed some keywords from the page and built links with different keywords as anchor text and added some new content, but nothing seems to help.

Google has been acting really strange lately.
