Can adding too much content such as thousands of pages to a website have negative effects with google. If so how much content or pages should be uploaded a day

Cheers fellas & fellettes lol

Depends.. if you add to much content to fast you could get banned but if you add it slowly and naturally you could get a higher rank over time. Make sure the content is unique or Google will bitch slap you.

supposedly 'critical mass' (for Google and some of the other SEs) is about 300 pages of decent, un-copied content.

the time frame? good question! but I would guess that you could start with 20-25 pages and add 5-7 a week...so it would take about a year to get there without your site being seen as 'suspicious'

You'd have to really be dumping a lot of information/content at one time to raise a flag. With that being said, I don't think there's a formula for how much is too much or too fast but dumping it all at once doesn't give the G bot a reason to come back as often if it finds nothing new after a couple visits.

Well if you do have a lot of content, the smart thing to do is to post 1 or 2 articles a day on your site, and then post the other articles with links embedded within the article body pointing back to your main site (also gradually) on other sites that you may or may not own.

As long as your articles are good quality and unique then you could add 100 and it doesn't matter

Actually yes it can hurt your site
Google likes a website to appear natural, this includes natural growth
Having a website go from zero to 1000 pages in 2 days will of course get you unwanted scrutiny

What about backlinks.... im looking at getting abt 10k backlinks in a month using article marketing(using UAW) for a new site im developing... do you think it will get me sandboxed?

and this is in the white hat section lol. Yeah but you can always go with the set and forget dp's.
