Hi folks, I'm maybe missing something obvious but for some reason i have wildly different ranking results in seo moz and webmaster tools.

I only just signed up for Moz yesterday and my main keyword is (apparently) not in the top 50 Whereas webmaster tools says it's in (approx) position 10. My google searches confirm it is position 12.

Any ideas what's going on? Moz is accurate for my other keywords.

    Cheers.

MOZ ranks updates are instant. But google analytics results are real time. But never trust a single tool for your campaign. Particularly while doing keyword research.

may be you are having different results on different google website and the results you view are customized according to your search history

It could be the tools using different data centres. Either that or your site could be dancing (possibly penguin update as my rankings are changing every hour). I only use one tool (a free one called rankerizer) to look at my rankings in real time as opposed to something that checks them automatically once per day. I dont really take much notice to a difference of ranking a few places until I hit the first page. If my site is say, page 3, I will check them once per day to see any general movement. Then once they are on page one, I check them manually. Hope this helps

As pointed out Moz results are instant and Google results are real time. And moreover you need not worry as most probably they are using different databases for the results. Also you should not use just tool when you are researching keywords, best is to use multiple and compare the results. Just be patient and check it once in a day.
