What would you suggest for an IT startup?s hosting needs. We are working on something that need good server configurations like VPS or cloud server. I have heard that amazon has cloud services but seems costly. One of our business mentor suggested to use small companies like ABC Communications in Vancouver. But I don?t have any experience with their hosting services. But I had to use their broadband internet few months ago. I have checked their hosting packages but still confused about what to choose. Any suggestions?

If you're not comfortable managing a server, use a good shared host like Site5. Don't get a VPS or dedicated server unless you either have the technical knowledge to maintain it or have the budget to pay someone else to do it.

I'd go with Linode.com (cheaper, but very good) or ServInt.com (more expensive, but very good).

If you have someone, who is good with the technical part go for Digital Ocean or Vultr.
First offers more disk space, second more memory per same price.

I host my websites on Site5 and I'm really happy with them, everything always works for me. I've only ever had one issue and that was trying to get them to enable something technical behind the scenes and no matter how many times I explained to the support guy what I wanted or needed, he just kept trying to troubleshoot me. I had to give up in the end. But apart from that they have been awesome.
