I am launching new project soon that may cause issues with my current web host, I say this because they recently complained about too much CPU usage on one of my other sites.

Although my new project is not wordpress based as most of my other sites are, it does query a database regularly, not to be too specific - queries are not joined - so simple selects, inserts, updates of single tables.

    My question is

    1) Why do wordpress sites cause such a overhead on ther server
    2) Is there a way of gauging too much CPU time (as my Cpanel does not show) - how much is too much?

    3) Have you guys any recommendations for hosting on a budget, maybe a host that has good allowance of CPU.

Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated.

    1) Too many plugins, weak server.

    2) Over 3 competing requests per CPU is too much.

    3) I like namecheap for one of my client sites, never blew up the CPU quota.
