I don't have the budget to buy powerful expired domains so I found some that are in my niche. They are mostly DA10-15 with some having links from examiner and other authority sites in my niche. I was thinking maybe once they are setup I can power them up with web 2.0's and other cheap PBN's from here.

Since I am low on budget I would love to know if it's a good investment to do so?

Any link is good for your website.

So, The right question to ask, What are your competitors doing?

If they are using backlinks stronger than your PBN, then it's a bad choice.. find weaker keywords
If your pbn is stronger than their backlinks, then go for it

Niche related is better as it increases your overall trust flow

My niche is quite weak so I think I will go for it. Thanks.

Generally, niche relevance still isn't that big of a factor in terms of link power. Strong links help you rank, even from unrelated domains.

However, having niche related domains makes it easier for a site to pass manual reviews, so there are some pros to doing it that way.

Back to your question - it all depends on what your competitors are using. If they are using strong PBN domains, outranking them with half the firepower won't do. If you think your pbn is stronger than their link profiles - by all means go for it.

Trust flow is one of the best approximations of the overall quality of the link profile that we have to go by these days.
