Do I really WANT to be a writer?
    Honestly, No.

I have been playing around with the idea for a while now because who couldn't use the extra cash? Unfortunately, now I don't have a choice.

I work in Real Estate, and while I do have a lot of business in the pipeline right now, I won't be seeing any of that money for at least another month.

The problem? The past week was filled with unexpected expenses that took me from being comfortable to literally having close to $0 in the bank.

So my journey into writing begins....

As a college student here in Boston, MA, I don't really consider myself an amazing writer, but I get the job done. I've seen some of the competition's writing and I have ordered many writing services here, and the quality just isn't there.

Anyways, I'll keep track of my progress here.

Good luck. Are you sure writing's the best option?

You will 100% want to die after writing 50000-30000 words in two weeks.

I have many skills and am planning to upsell where I can.

Hopefully, it won't be too bad. For now, I will focus on writing but if I can set up websites for people then hell yeah I'll do that.

    Good luck :)

I write quite a bit of content for my websites and I have found that using Dragon Naturally Speaking can help get the job done faster. But the tool isn't 100% reliable all the time.

Yeah, I don't use Dragon because Mac's have it built in as a stock feature. But I do use the feature often. It's how I write all my college essays.

    UPDATE:

I am on Upwork and so far I have sent out 5 proposals for some pretty decent gigs. I only have 25 proposals I can send though so when this runs out I'll have to look elsewhere for business.

Since it's almost finals week at school, I know there are many essays due this time of year. I'm going to see if I can get a few clients at $100-$200/each

Hey man, I'm a college student and in real estate too! I know there'll be tough times and have been there a couple of times. For me, during those times, I'd take jobs helping people move house as I had a truck. I also helped with changing or fixing their lights as well as pipes, maybe u can also consider doing these odd jobs.

Anyways, good luck in your journey man, writing is really tough haha!

We can't find writers for any of our adult sites.

I would do writing skills for cheap and then upsell on all the website builds and everything else you do. If I was you..

Good luck brother, I tried Iwriter for a week, as a supplement to my seo work I wanted to buy my friends audi tt he was offering me at a discount so needed cash fast. for iwriter i cant remember like 15 reviews before you can start. I got to 10 saw spun content farms kept taking the best work I couldent even get one article started. Then after 10 5 start reviews I had some dude named Arjun give me a 1 star rating on a great article, steal my article since he didnt have to pay. I quit next day.

Had more luck with textbrokers UK (since im from canada they only let me use uk), was doing game reviews they were paying decent, made $100 got burned out immediately and went back to seo. From this experience I now outsource all my articles I will never write an article again I cant stand it anymore, and ill never buy an article from iwriter so long as I live.

Good luck on your journey, interested to see your results!

    UPDATE:
Sorry that I forgot to post updates here but I have been hustling. It's been 11 days since I created this thread and I hit my goal in 5 days.

What I did vs What I planned:
When I went into this, I had the intention that I was going to write all these articles. Maybe even do some buy low, sell high. After about a day or two or looking for work and getting nothing, I knew I had to change it up.

From that point, I decided I was going to offer people a huge discount on WP sites because I needed to have a portfolio done by the end of the week "for a portfolio that I wanted to use for a job interview."

Sure that was complete bullshit, but it made people feel the urgency and like they were getting my services usually worth $1000+ for only $150. I got 4 of these clients in one day and invested in a new theme that would help me take my business to the next level. This theme cost me $70, but it puts me way ahead of other designers. So there I was with $530 in profit. It took me 6 hours to bang out all the websites and deliver something my clients were more than pleased with. So at that point, my time was worth around $75/hour.

Then I saw someone post here in the HAF section that they were looking for someone to help them with their logo problem for $50. I knew it would take me only a few minutes so I bid $30 to get it done and I got the contract. Yeah, I got in done in 5 minutes. But I took the next 20 minutes to create 4 NEW logos for him that would fit his brand much better. I also delivered all of them in .psd and .png format. He was so pleased with me that he paid me the full $50 and told me he would come to me for all future work. For this project, my time was worth $120+/hour.

I sold a website I have been holding onto for a while for $500 to the owner of my hosting company and was also able to get a few months of free hosting out of it. The deal took 1.5 hours from start to finish. We had a P&S drawn up and I was paid. My time was worth $333/hour here.

Aside from that, I had a few small projects and am using the theme I was able to purchase for basically free to build my personal brand website and create something that other in my industry have offered to pay me $5,000 for once complete.

This post isn't meant to brag, it's meant to motivate you to get off your ass and HUSTLE.

Not quite true, it depends on how good a writer you are.
There are some good writers in the marketplace, there are some excellent ones too, alas there's some really poor drivel being sold too.
