Did you guys finish the movie, or only watch the first half, like a lot of people also do with Scarface? The movie is more of like an explanation as to what's been happening between trade regulations and affiliate marketers the past 5 years.

AHHH. People, the movies you're describing are about how soul-sucking marketing is. Glengarry Glen Ross makes me never want to ever work in sales ever. EVER. Boiler Room? The entire movie is a satire on the financial culture and the people who live that lifestyle. Affleck's character was a joke, but audiences and the characters in the movie like him. Why? Answer that and you'll answer why people lease cars or buy homes they don't need and can't afford. I'll try to think of a movie I think is good about marketing/sales/business instead of just being contrarian... edit: got it, watch: Meet Joe Dirt. I'm half kidding, but literally only half kidding. I'll think of another movie.
I enjoyed the movie. It's entertaining, it's what it's supposed to do. But it also does shed some light on a few things. How unrealistic is the movie really? There are individuals/corps that make these types of deals/markets this same exact way. This film was not intended to be a crash course on marketing and should not be critiqued as such. But what it is, is an entertaining film that depicts and sheds some light on the world in which we are a part of. BTW: If you're serious about sharing a film that also relates, I'd be interested taking a look at it (as I'm sure other members would as well)
Theirs a blast from the past, I loved this movie when I was at home with the parents, the character Seth Davis in the movie at the time was just so much I could relate to. I remember going on like that in my first telemarketing job, I really did think I was billy bollox lol but looking back now, I bet everyone looked at me and thought what a tosser ahahaha but hey, I was young, I had dreams.. I live a comfortable life now with because I exceeded my targets. You can too, just keep on working your ass off!! Their is no secret formula other than that. Awesome share Snort, thanks a lot mate.
