Well, just as the title says.

I use to be a Bing Ads user (a year ago...), and I got some friendly receipt emails saying I was charged a total of $3000 with Bing Ads, and I have not used them In a year.

Apparently my account was compromised (why today after a year of no use? lol), and a shit load of ad campaigns were setup. When I went to login, they shut down the account so I couldn't. After spending about 45 minutes waiting, listening to elevator music, I got someone on the phone (just 30 minutes before they closed for the day). In short, apparently Microsoft takes fraud pretty damn serious and this Is the fastest refund I will ever be getting, because they plan to have the funds back In my account In the next couple days, and the representative laughed when I asked If It would take a week.

Keep your accounts safe people, I can't believe someone would spend this much of others money at once, especially In Holiday season. Mind you this account (and card god knows why I still have) was used by me a year ago. Now I have 20+ character passwords on Important accounts, password managers, and a few other goodies I use.

Stay safe, most Importantly keep your money safe, and happy holidays :)

Well, if they are prepared to commit fraud, then it doesn't really matter whose money it is, how much, nor the time of year it is. I am glad that Microsoft take it seriously enough to refund you immediately...Imagine if it were PayPal you were dealing with.

When I started reading the thread I was going to say issue a chargeback, but I see that isn't necessary. Good going on Microsoft's part (for once).

...that's one of the reasons for why I blocking my credit cards once every 2-3 months and ask for another one :)

    Good luck bro ;)

Very true, but most banking bots worth their salt have auto billing features, charge 10k people $5 a month and watch your money grow without them knowing. I know this wasn't a bot, simply an account, but $3k, really? Try to be a bit more stealthy lol.

I am actually happy with Microsoft, and they will be giving me some more Info on the person. My guess he Is a newbie, probably came across some password log he had when I use to let my little brother use my PC (who was download happy at the time, loved his Runescape bots on youtube).

Oh god, If this was Paypal, I would of already given up lol.

Yea, I started doing that a while ago as well. I have no clue why I still have this card. It was In a filing cabinet In my closet, under a bunch of old papers.

Hey, RuneScape is a good game, don't knock it! haha. But seriously, I hope that they can gather enough information about the guy so that he can be reported to the authorities. Blackhat isn't bad, but theft and fraud? Really? He deserves everything that is coming to him, in my opinion.

Pick a word you will always remember. MD5 hash it. store that and use that as a password. If you ever need access to the password just run the php function if you do not have access to your password list. That is what I do :)

I have actually just been using Roboform the past 6 or 7 months (along side a few other goodies), and It's working well. My work PC has all my valuables on It now, and I have a separate PC for browsing the web.

I also just found out after checking my balance, the card that was charged was my sisters card, and not the one I found In my closet -_- I actually remember the account now, It was when I was teaching her different ways on how to earn online, and I happened to be teaching her about PPC. This Is going to be a very fun phone call...

Same thing happened to me few weeks ago, luckily I got the email that my password was changed and did a password reset right away. The person was still able to charge my account with $500 or so and that was maybe 1-2 hours. But bing was actually cool to deal with, we waited a day or two until everything showed in the stats, they checked the ads which were edited and refunded the money. The funny thing is, I could have easily spend money on a campaign and then claim it wasn't me, because they didn't check IP logins or anything...they said it is not important, as I can't prove it wasn't me, even if its a different IP. Not giving anyone tips on how to scam them, though.

So you were refunded In 1-2 days? I will be transferring funds early to my sisters bank account because I feel bad, and considering the time of the year she probably needs that money (especially with her wedding and all).

I hope they give me more Info on the person. Considering how the PC was compromised a year back, I don't think this guy Is too smart. Also considering $3k was essentially stolen, It seems as If this would be pretty serious.

Good to know bing did everything they could to help you out. There are some PPC platforms where they disregard you since they're more interested in helping out the big brands. Sad but true.

Ha. Got info of 3 of my credit cards stollen, had numerous hosting accounts hacked, even 2 of my affiliate accounts broken into. Never lost a penny, except for lost time fixing it all back. Actually my hosting accounts got broken into so many times I had to mount scripts that tell me when the bad boys change anything so it can be changed back right away. But that's on cheap virtual hosts I use where no harm can be done.

hell $3000 is no joke, that's why I usually like to pre-pay but I can't do it with BingAds.

Still have not gotten It back. Apparently regular chat support Is no longer of use to me, as It has been sent to the fraud department. An extra $200 was charged that same day, so that's $3200 total now. Apparently the $200 charge slipped past me.

Thats a relief that they are refunding you, for a second I was worried you were about to get screwed with a false 3k charge. Glad to hear everything is being fixed.

    Yea, It's good to know.

But I have not received the refund yet, and am now having to ask a few services I use to extend my billing time due to me not being able to pay them until the refund comes In, or till I get paid next Friday :/

1 out of the 4 services have accepted, due to me being a long time customer. Hopefully the other 3 will accept as well, fingers crossed or my projects will be on pause.
