Firstly, sorry for the title of this thread :D I just discover this blog post, dont remember how....

This dude is defaming xrumer name with bullshit accusations, just read:

"This software contains a bot-net Trojan virus, but Black Hat SEO people use it regularly because it lets them drop ?********? links into forums."

"I personally believe that XRumer is the distribution tool for the giant DOS bot-net infections out there: it?s the perfect mechanism, because you?d want a tool that?s wildly popular and nobody will report when it causes trouble."

"So to reiterate, you?re downloading a virus to get a software program that only creates spam, and even its proponents recommend using only for sites you expect to get shut down after a couple of months."

    Source: http://www.neo1seo.com/2011/10/black-hat-links-anonymous/

I belive xrumer owner can get way more botnets around the globe and dont need to do it in his customers computers... but who knows........ :D

I think this dude deserves a trilion profile links to his site, who is with me?

The DOS attacks come from "somewhere". So do the "free proxies". Once your computer's security is compromised, they can do anything and they want with it. Most people assume that all malware has obvious symptoms. I think the most effective malware gives no sign of it's existence at all.

These "cracked" versions of software, why would someone go to that trouble unless there was some kind of payoff ?

I think this dude is not talking about "cracked" versions of xrumer, I am saying this because of this sentense: This software contains a bot-net Trojan virus

The most effective malware use Zero Day exploits and they spread fast and usually undetected. That is why they sell for high $xx,xxx-$xxx,xxx

I highly doubt the creators of XR could be arsed with malware, and botnets... they have a good thing going, and make bank with their softy so why make waves?

Just use fb apps to go viral and screw with peoples machines... I've had 2 very malicious attacks from fb apps.

A spring clean of new OS generally solves my own probs... good point though about guys running dedis... but in fairness what would you prefer if you owned a botnet -

    a.) 200 guys with dedis
b.) 200k guys with standard broadband, 1gb of ram and millions of saved contacts?

I'd pick b any day, the important part is spamming peoples email contacts. Not their computer speed anyway.
