In my experience, I've noticed that some customers prefer freelancers to reach out to them via Telegram, especially in sections like HAF / WTB on BHW. This preference may stem from the communication delays often encountered when using BHW PM, coupled with their familiarity with platforms like TG / Discord.

I have made the suggestion for blackhatworld to add a live chat alternative to PM in the past, however this was obviously brushed aside. https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/p...-abolish-telegram-skype.1465416/post-15990711

However, this convenience also presents an opportunity for scammers to exploit. Recently, someone I reached out to fell victim to a scam as a result, and its obviously not the first time.

Therefore, I suggest implementing a system where messages posted in sections like HAF are scanned for keywords such as "contact me via Telegram." Users could then be advised to proceed cautiously and verify the identity of the person they're communicating with.
Alternatively, providing guides on scam prevention could be beneficial to safeguard users from such incidents.

I have a better idea. Any presale deals and questions should be done via BHW or email related to BHW account.
Telegram message can be easily removed.
I know my idea will be not even considered, but this is the simplest, cleanest and most professional solution.

Non of these will prevent any scams
You will be scamed only if you want

Well.. You should be cautious when dealing with someone who doesn't have a good reputation and take it off BHW platform on your own risk. You can't protect the sheep from wolves if they go into the forest towards the howling noise willingly :D

I'll bring this up in one of the staff meetings.

Please all continue to share your thoughts on this, though, as we like to know what you think to make the forum better.

I am not sure what you are trying to say, can you explain more? you do not want people to communicate using telegram?

I don't give my telegram or whatever to anyone. It's often asked just for spam and/or contact building.

All business should be conducted on BHW, there is really no reason to use Telegram etc.
Much safer to deal via PM
If somebody is desperate to communicate on other platforms, it always raises red flags to me.
Only use other platforms when you have no other choice, and you have done your due diligence and verified who you are dealing with.

I always use telegram, i rarely check the PMs here, telegram is easier to communicate with your clients, if they forced everyone to use BHW they will kill the community

Plus there is no BHW app on mobile

People will use telegram for convenience as it’s instant.
If people want to scam they will do it via PM or telegram.
Putting a note next to the users name when they have a shitlist open I think would be a good idea. You can see it instantly and so not have to search though every thread.
Also use common sense. That’s what it seems like a lot of people who get scammed do not use.

Everyone in this thread has made some fairly good points here.

Whilst we can't implement a detection system, we did add a disclaimer to the sticky rules threads at the top of the WTB and HAF sections.

Caution: Be careful when doing business with users off of the forum using platforms like Telegram. While instant messaging services are more convenient, scammers often delete chats and pretend they had no interaction with victims using these platforms.
