Write about a topic you have more knowledge about than other people (I don't know your skills). Collect all available infos about this topic and sum it up + give your personal advice. People looking for this niche can then get your ebook as "ultimate" resource. And another advice: don't put "??" and "..................." in your book.

If your nervous of starting or not sure how it will go just do something small, I wrote a couple of childrens books, used pictures of my own cats and photoshopped them to look like cartoons.

As they were childrens books I didn't have to write much, they got a few sales, ranked high, and got nice reviews.

Did what I wanted though, I got to test the water and see how the whole KDP thing works etc.

Top 50 or Top 100 books do well and easy to research online and re-write.

For example Top 50 Minecraft Tips & Cheats or Top 100 Kids Party Games etc etc

I have had a lot of success with Kindle promoting novels written by my mother!

Essentially yeah, don't expect to make money by doing so though, I mean maybe in the long run if you released a shit load but the market isn't great on those haha I got a few sales and a couple every week or so but I wasn't expecting any. Was just testing the water.

I'm also thinking of writing a book. My questions is: How long should it be? What is the minimal length of a book?

I've found that my most successful Kindle ventures were those in which proper keyword research was done beforehand. We actually made software for this but you can figure it out on your own by taking the following approach:

Brainstorm a list of 10 topics that you feel comfortable writing about
Create a list of keywords for each of those topics (ex: what you would search for if you wanted to find a book in that area)
Convert the best seller ranks for each of the top 30 or so books in those keywords to the average sales per day (plenty of free tools for this, we just automated it ourselves)
Mark down the total dollars per day spent in the niche for comparison with your other niches
Of the best sellers in those areas, average the length of these books to find out what readers want in terms of depth

Another big one, find out whether or not there's a spread of hot selling books in a particular niche. This is really important because it tells you the market type you're looking at. I found that you want to stay away from niches where a single publication is raking in TONS of sales and everything else is picking up crumbs, this is usually because readers have found exactly what they want in that niche and don't consider anything else. In the case of non-fiction it's really important to understand that.

With those in mind, you'll want to locate keywords with a good spread of sales and a high dollar amount spent per day. Additionally, you should consider whether or not your book will offer more or less value than what's on the market right now. Don't forget that your book quality still matters.

To clarify, you're actually able to figure out which keywords generate enough money per day with the right spread of sales to leave room for additional competition and then move in depending on whether or not you're comfortable creating content in that niche that offers value.

If you have more questions just let me know, I literally designed the software to solve kindle automatically so I hope I'm able to assist you a little.

thank you so much for such detailed reply :), the only thing i didn't understood is what you meant by this
"Convert the best seller ranks for each of the top 30 or so books in those keywords to the average sales per day"

    Thanks in advance :)

Take a look at the genres which are selling well in Amazon (check out the tops and also the ranks of different books). Make a list with the ones that you have found. From this list, pick one category that attracts you most. Research the keywords which most of the titles in that category are containing. The ones that all of these titles are containing will be the keywords that actually customers are searching. Use them wisely.

Another easy way of identifying if the category you have chosen is actually going to bring profit: check the first books that are ranking when searching after a particular keyword: if these first books are ranking well ( under 100k in Kindle store), you have a winner. They are selling at least one copy/ day!
