So you want to sell t-shirts online? Here's some tips for selling t-shirts online. 1. It's a grind. You will be doing a lot of registering, editing, tinkering, contacting people etc. etc. Remember it will be hard work but it is WORTH IT because you will be getting your designs out in to the world. 2. It is not a get rich quick scheme. It is competitive and takes a lot of hard work and trial and error to become successful it doesn't just happen over night. 3. Collect people's emails. Facebook advertising is good, use pay per engagement so you can see who liked, loved, shared etc. your t-shirt AD. I contact every single person that did that and use one of 5 pasted thank you messages to get feedback and an email from them. I also ask everyone to join my email list. I target my email lists by niche. I send an email 1-4 times a month so people don't think I'm annoying and spammy. 4. People like cheesy ideas, grandfather shirts, sports, military all these niches sell well. Custom design for multiple niches in the same shirt and you will be even more successful eg. firefighters wife. Target, passion niches, camaraderie niches eg. military, jobs, us vs them, buzz topics, pop culture. 5. Your first ideas will fail. One shirt idea in t-shirts is nothing. Try to get a new idea out multiple times a week or even better every day. You either need to grind out free methods or use facebook, reddit, instagram, pinterest advertising. Many people did not sell a single shirt until their 30th advertisment. It takes time to get to know the system. 6. Don't give up! Keep going and don't give up the harder you work the faster you will succeed. Watch youtube videos there are tonnes of great tips out there. 7. Register for Amazon Merch ASAP it takes at least 6 weeks to become a member on Amazon Merch, sometimes even up to 4 months. In the meantime I suggest you sell on teespring.com or viraltees. Teespring is universally thought of as the best, the commissions are slightly lower but you know the quality and customer service will be good. 8. Good artist create, great artists steal. Take existing ideas that are working and improve them and sell those ideas. You can search http://www.teeview.org/ by keyword and see what is selling in that niche. 9. Don't steal trademarks, logos etc. that are copywrited. You will get sued and they will take your money. Sports teams logos, famous people etc. look up the laws and follow them. 10. Be positive and persistent ask for feedback, ideas, ask people you know, businesses you know that buy shirts to buy through you. Starting a business takes a lot of hard work and selling t-shirts online is no exception. 11. Don't spend more than $20 advertising a shirt if you haven't sold any. Try changing your marketing message, your shirt, the shirt color, your target audience etc. Test, test, test. 10% success rate on your shirts is a good amount to target. 12. If you are getting over 300% on your advertising ROI you need to increase your ad spend. If you are making more than $3 for every dollar in advertising that means your shirts could be selling more if you advertise more if you are making less than $3 for every $1 spent keep advertising at the same rate.
