I'm looking to put up a movie site and content lock, etc...

I have just a couple questions......

I'm sure it's best to go with offshore hosting for something like this, does anyone have any recommendations?

I plan on picking up a video script either free or otherwise.....from someone with no experience in dealing with such a script, is it a good idea to grab hosting that offers a ton of disk storage, since I'm sure that by the time a few movies get uploaded, it won't be long before it's taking up some major space?

I need someone to point me in the right direction, any help is much appreciated, I'll give +rep and thanks....

    Thanks Everyone!

you don't really need a lot of storage as you will not be hosting the videos.

It is best to go with offshore hosting for movie / tv show sites as you can avoid legal issues more easily. Although, I have not had experience with an offshore host, so I can't really recommend any specific host to you. :p

I don't know of any auto posting movie / tv show scripts that still work, but I have seen other scripts. But, personally, I would go with a WordPress-based site with a video theme (Google it or look around BHW, there are tons of good ones) and outsource the postings. You can probably get people that you pay like 10 cents per movie posted. Also, WordPress is very good and easy to use when it comes to SEO and SEO for a movie site can help A TON.

Then, when it comes to monetizing, you should use content lockers ONLY when they click on a link to watch the video. If you have it as soon as they enter, it will discourage them and most likely stray them away. Also, you should have low quality listings, but have the higher quality one the link with the content locker. Make sure it's legit though, the user should get the high quality version they are looking for or else the users won't want to come back to your site.

Also, it may be good to have a chat thing on a sidebar, many tv show sites do this with services like Chatango (I think) and it helps keep your users involved and always wanting to watch off your site due to the interaction they have with other users as well.

That's just some things I thought of, I hope it helps.

As for offshore hosting there is a few members here offering some pretty good VPS packages just do some searching you'll find someone to help you out.

And for the script ... Go with Movieblogpress and use your own theme do some css work to it to make it unique. That's the best movie script/plugin etc... Out there.

Movie sites have to be done right to become money makers and don't depend on Google for your traffic they like to fuck with the rankings of movie sites.

    Be unique!

Would you really NEED an offshore VPS? Couldn't you just use an offshore shared host?

Shared offshore host would be fine. Be warned that the movie niche is pretty saturated. That's not to say it's impossible to succeed, you just have to be creative.

I would not use Hostgator. One report and they will take your site down without notice! Best to use an offshore host that allows content like this. Do a search for "offshore hosting", there are a few members here offering a good service.

    Go with that :
    - Real anonymous domain registrar
    - Offshore host

If you use a locker, put it on an anonymous domain to ;)

No you don't need a VPS for a movie site I just like to be in control of how many people are using my IP. Shared hosting sucks why not have a little control?

I had a few sites that didn't even host the movies or anything to do with the content and they were taken down and deindexed out of Google within a few weeks of promotion.

The domains were just like this: watchXXXXXXonline.com

Just because of the domain the sites were taken down, not because of any bad promotion or whatnot. I didn't even have any copyrighted content on them! My 2 cents... stay away from movie sites!

I thought I'd have to host the file on the offshore hosting...if I put the file on say...mediafire, then I potentially could be found out I would think, or at the bare minimum I suppose just have the file be deleted, either way, that would probably piss me off.

still need more details on videos related. since it depends on that

see if u don't go for hacking videos or porn videos or illegal videos i suggest you to run

the blog and buy domain for 10$ from google checkout and use youtube to insert videos on blog which is beneficial in two ways you can lock content and earn and youtube views

or if you go for porn or illegal things i suggest

see we can go for unlimited hosting now a days providing by a number of good companies are there like name, ewebguru, hostgator, godaddy, and some are selling 1$ per month
unlimited hosting too search on google and go for it.

See for porn site if u go for a big companies they will track your all details so i suggest go for smaller company they will never ask by searching on google " 1$ unlmited hosting "
and search on google you will find plenty , when you find one company note there company name and make again search any bad reviews on them or not if not carry on with there plans.

And always buy a plan of monthly package do not go for 6 months or 1 year

then only you can get good response from company side

I personally have used Host gator for over a year with over 20 movie sites on my account. I have never had a problem (doesn't mean its not possible)

I have never had a problem with domain names being de-indexed because of the format.. watchXXXXonline.com is usually what I buy.. Always rank fast and stay there for a while. They also pay Paypal monthly so its nice to forget about them and then get a payment out of no where.

I upload alot of YT Videos everyday. The niche is saturated, somewhat... This just means you need to do twice the work for the same payout. It sucks, but that is why we have tools to automate the process :)

As for the script.. I have used many.

TvStreamScript - Sucks last time I checked it, wasn't being updated, bad support.

MovieBlogPress - I was using this for TV Shows and did not have the movie script. Overall it is a solid script with lots of great features. I did not like the fact that you have a 500 Episode/Show cap on adding fresh shows.. (Sucks when you are first populating a site) I also did not like that there was not many episodes found.

CpaBlaster - Owned by a member of this forum. This is hands down the best software out for TV Sites right now. It is updated all the time, It actually finds the shows and you can do everything you need with it. It will grab the episodes (Post multiple embed codes) and much more. You can also upload to YT, Make Videos, ETC. If you have the money, its a great investment for TV sites.

    Tips:

    1. If you have a site with multiple movies and you are using a lock, make sure you send your traffic direct to the video page. When a user lands on the page, they can see you have the video (Or you can have a image of a video player) This will help conversions big time..

    2. Throw Graboid on the site. Yes the conversion rate sucks, but its a extra couple hundred dollars at the end of the month. I use the direct download link and have a "download movie" button on my site.

    3. If you can, use your OWN content lock. A good lock, with the right offers will convert 200% better then most "incent" networks... Blam, Leadbolt, Dollarade ETC. Find a CPA network that pays weekly and this is even better. The guys over at http://CpaBeyond.com are doing good with this traffic.. <--- If you do not have a CPA account.

    4. QUALITY OVER QUANITY... 1 Quality Youtube video will get more traffic then 100 crappy videos. Take your time and do shit right the first time.

awesome, thanks for the tips, a big thanks to onthegoaudio1...I was actually thinking about going porn with it. hostgator might work, I would'a thought hostgator would'a shut you down with copyright content, or if people had dmca complained.
