    http://bit.ly/zLfiMS

no affiliate link, just wondering how much people i will bring, so i use bit.ly to track.

the course is usually $50, this time its free. its about learning Ruby programming for the purpose of web development. (without rails)

sorry for not posting this in the programming section, but nobody visits it, especially people who don't know programming.

forum support with guaranteed answers in 24 hours comes with the free course so its pretty cool :]

the author is of course upselling much during the course but just dont bother with it.

    cheers

im sure you can handle that. its pretty basic.

you can spend a few minutes to see how ruby works here
    http://tryruby.org
    and here
    http://www.ruby-lang.org/en/documentation/quickstart/

and im sure you will be fine. web programming is pretty ambiguous so you wont really need any core language knowledge for this. just knowing the basics of programming will be useful. what are variables, strings, integers etc. just read anything on the wiki.

its one of the 2 best web dev languages imo (python and ruby)

linux/git/github/heroku/ruby/rails and sublime text 2(or rubymine if you want an IDE) is a really rewarding environment for developing web apps.

Have any of you every been on MIT open course work? I'm sure there are classes on there that teach programming. They have every MIT class there for free. Other universites have it as well.

yeah but its more like comp science, writing compilers and stuff, not business-oriented web development etc ;)
