PPC is a little more dangerous than this, because if you don't know what you're doing you can easily lose a shitload of money. There are a few places that can prepare you for it. I used to be a member of PPC-Coach and I definitely recommend it for starters, it will give you a very solid grounding of what this game is all about.
This forum doesn't really focus on PPC much, but you may want to check out Wick*dFi*e, as they are mainly PPC over there. I'm not sure if it's against the rules for me to suggest a different forum
seeing as how this one doesn't really cover this topic much.
A great place to start right now would be facebook ads. There is a thread somewhere here with free 50$ coupons, go get a few of those. Facebook is easier to get into initially since it isn't targeting keywords, instead it is targeting demographics, and they have some great targeting i must say. So the process would go something like this:
1. get coupons, sign up for account.
2. Ask your Affiliate manager at the network you work with about which offers are converting well on facebook. If you aren't signed up yet, I suggest Neverblue ads, Ads4Dough or Copeac. There are more, but these ones have been good to me.
3. When you have a few well converting offers (from the AM) think about what demographics would convert the best for these offers. Your AM may have given you some hints/suggestions already.
4. Set up good tracking (VERY VERY VERY Important). I suggest Prosper202 (self-hosted) or Tracking202 which is hosted on a different server. P202 is better if you can.
5. Create ads on FB with unique/eye-catching pictures (this is very important) and tempting/eye-catching ad text. And create LOTS of different ads. Many of them will not be accepted, but some will, don't be surprised.
6. Start running your ads, I would set my initial bid to around .15-.25 depending on the niche/payout/conversions. Make sure you are targeting the demographic as tightly as possible. Don't make 1 ad targeting Males:18-40, Living in the US. that will be terrible.. it's better to make MANY ads, that are very tightly targeted, this will ensure a good ctr/price-per-click
7. The higher your clickthrough % rate (which is Impressions:clicks) is the lower your bids will be, this is how facebook works.
8. Depending on how much your budget was set to, and how much traffic you have been getting, check your tracking after a day or two, and see what ads/offers are converting and which ads have a high ctr. The CTR (clickthrough) is key here, as it will give you low bids. You can always switch the offer on the backend, and test different offers (you do this by using a redirect, because you can change the destination url on facebook, or at least i don't think you can. Even if you can, you will have a manual review, which you don't want
).
9. Keep the ads that are converting, ditch the ones that aren't
10. Repeat this process all over with new ads and build up a fucking empire.
Hints/Tips/Additions:
- This DOES require some money to burn, and you might lose out at first.
- It's best when creating ads to first direct them to either wikipedia or some other Official site, so that when they are getting approved, they FB guys see a nice whitehat site. As soon as they are approved, redirect the link to your affiliate offer, or LP, depending on how you do it (i direct link).
- Fuck girls, travel, and get rich
