    Hi everyone,

Many of you guys have soooo much experience and I wanted to ask for help/advice. I've never done anything like this before. I decided to use wordpress as the basis for my blog because of it's popularity and user friendliness.

I had a few questions and maybe you guys can help?

    1) I was wondering if there was a way to forward google docs into wordpress blogs/posts?
    2) Can you have multiple users access parts of the wordpress without accessing the whole thing? - It didn't seem like this was possible
    3) Can you guys recommend good auto-blogging plugins?

I'm sure I have tons more questions, but any help on these would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

    Hi Rangerrick,

    1) Yes there is, however I have not tried doing this before.
However the (apprently) main plugin providing this functionality doesn't seem to have been updated in over 2 years.
    http://wordpress.org/plugins/docs-to-wordpress/

    2) Yes you can, when creating users in your wordpress dashboard, you can give them roles according to the permissions you want to grant them. For more info check out the wordpress codex: http://codex.wordpress.org/Roles_and_Capabilities

    3) I have tried a couple in the past, and however no plugins have been perfect the one I found most useful is WPeMatico (free version available in the wordpress plugin repositories)

    Good luck!

    Hey sbndnb,

I actually tried emailing/contacting that guy awhile back, but never got any response back. Seeing that it hasn't been updated in a few years, I wasn't sure if it would still work =/

I'll definitely have to check out the roles part in wordpress.

There's so much to know, it feels like I'm in over my head. But thanks for the reply!

Thanks for the help! I would love to base my "business model" on Huffington Post. Does anybody have any insight as to how their business model works? I know that site definitely generates income, but I want to be able to apply their success with what I want to do. Any insight is definitely appreciated.

my advice would be don`t automate anything to do with posting new articles, not if you want google to like you anyway or you want adsense ads on there .
automate syndicating your feed to different twitter, linkedin and facebook accounts via twitterfeed and feedburner .on twitter feed you can choose to update timelines ,groups or fanpage`s on facebook . feedburner is nearly as good but owned by google ,so don`t link everything through there either a twitter or a facebook account ,the less they know the better .
you can also update these accounts by taking someone else`s feed and linking it through a twitter feed account to tweet now and then when you have no fresh news to post of your own .
that would be my advice anyway

Okay, awesome. Based on feedback and what I have read so far, it looks like straight autoblogging is out. However, I only wanted to look into it because there are much more popular news sites out there related to my niche. If something new or interesting were to get posted on those sites, I wanted to see if I could write an article based on the news. I would use the autoblogger to make a pending post on wordpress, but I wouldn't copy/paste the article. I would write about it and give credit to the article. Does that make sense or is that not okay to do? Again, appreciate all the feedback so far.

If you are only going to write about the pending article and credit it, then there isn't a problem with feeding the articles to your drafts, so long as your only going to write about them and credit them. I don't see why you would need to feed the posts to your drafts though, you will just have 1000s of drafts to sift through. Just subscribe to the sources via RSS and then you can pick the articles you want to bite from there without adding unnecessary weight to your wordpress

I understand your wanting to create a news website but with auto blogging out of the question, your either going to need a lot of time or a lot of money.

Good suggestion Skirmish. I was just thinking that doing it that way might be a good way to get my drafts started. But yes, I can see how that can clog up wordpress real quick. I'm really in no rush to make this project successful overnight. I know it will take time. I just want to start this project the right way. I also won't be undertaking this alone. I will have other people help me.

I was also wondering how news site generate revenue? Is it just ads because that's the only thing I can think of. If you guys have any suggestions, ideas, I would love to hear them. You guys rock. Glad I came here to ask. Everyone has been very helpful. =)

    1. Try the chrome extension google docs to wordpress. Pretty simple setup and right click "send to wordpress" functionality.
