OK, here is the REAL deal on WalMart Green Dot cards!
I buy about 200 a month for various reasons, so I know WTF I am writing about!
The minimum load is $20. The card costs $8.95, so the cost of each card is $28.95.
WalMart "gift cards" are NOT money cards and will work ONLY for purchases at WalMart.
After purchase, the temporary card is valid until the "real" card is mailed to the purchaser at which time the temp card goes dead and the "real" card is loaded with remaining funds from the temp card.
Cards may be loaded at the time of purchase with any amount up to $500 and the balance will be transferred to the "real" card when it is issued.
You can burn up the balance on the temp card before the real card is issued, so no problems there.
All you need to use the "real" card after arrival is the number and the CW2 as well as the address to which the card is registered.
If you are paying $15 for each Green Dot, your total cost would be $28.95 plus $15 plus whatever merchant processing fees are involved in sending me the funds with which to purchase the cards; roughly $44.00 plus merchant processing fees.
I can also re-load the "real" cards for you from my end based on a percentage of the total loaded amount plus merchant processing fees.
If you want the "real" cards mailed to you, I can do that also for the cost of shipping which varies depending on the method used.
Hit me up if I can help.
Upotown.
