    Hi

From past 2 years i'm following a website(which is very useful for me) and from past few months the website is down. i feel website owner didn't renewed his hosting or something else. Don't know the reason why. When i check the domain whois record domain is going to expire in 10 days (1st feb). As i know domain is very good i want to register the domain.

So how soon i can able to buy that domain once it expires? Can i get the domain for regular cost? it is TLD domain.

    Please suggest.

You can whois domain to know the admin's email. Then send an email to him.

If you want to buy when it available, you must way the domain release as define in domain life cycle.

You can also use backorder service to buy the domain. But the price is not normal.

Both of these does not help? :(

Check the WHOIS information. While name, adress, and phone may be bogus, the email certainly isn't. Even if it's a privacy email, it forwards to the email of the real owner. Just don't sound too desperate, don't ask for a price but already offer a lowish sum.

You will need to backorder it via snapnames or some such service. You are better off calling the previous owner though as snapnames isn't cheap and you'll need to wait for 60+ days or so.

Using snapnames or similar services is not a sure way to get the domain name as you are going to be in competition with other interested domainers. Just email the owner before it expires.

    Thanks for all your suggestions
After domain expires is every domain goes to snapnames or similar services. If domain expires and after the grace period completes will the domain available new registrar like me or will it go to snapnames?

This is the life cycle of a domain according to ICANN:

As yu can see it takes time, so you'll better off trying to contact the owner as others suggested.

No, the registrar will list it on their expired domain auction, you can buy it through the auction. Depend on that particular domain metrics, it may get no attention from any domainers or there will be bidding war.

If you win the auction, the registrar will still give the owner last chance to renew it, if nothing happens only by then the domain goes to your account.

If no one catch it while in the auction, it goes to redemption period till get released to public, it's free for all. Only use backorder service like snapnames if the domain is really worth it, other wise you can hand reg it, just like you buy a new domain.

I suggest you to catch it on the auction

The expired domains don't go to snapnames. I think snapnames is just middle party that will try to acquire domain for you for a fee of $69. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
When domain expires, anyone interested would try to acquire it, so you should better try harder to acquire before it expires. Try wayback machine to find pages of that website and check if there's any contact details are there.

Although there's one problem, if the owner decides to renew when you contact him/her. Once I saw good website ranking page one for a very competitive keyword. I directly sent message to her mobile(that I found out from who is) to buy since only one day was left for renewal. Instead of replying me she renewed the domain immediately. :D

Contact him and see if he is willing to sell.
