Ok I've been here for a while and learned quite a bit so I figure I should contribute what I can.

This is a little trick I came up with to get more views to my articles online.

If your familiar with sites like AC and Ezine then you know about the byline.
the byline is basically your alias (basically the name of the author for each article) that you use for each article.

now the funny thing about the byline is that actually holds a lot of weight on search engines (due to being part of well established sites no doubt) so you can take advantage of it.

Basically what I'm getting at is that you can use your name, a fake made up name, or...........a name with a lot of keyword buzz at the moment for you byline.

let's put it this way: my byline for all my articles a few weeks back was "Joe the plumber". during the short "joe the plumber craze" my view count shot up a great deal for my articles. this means more promotion for me and in the case of AC more money from article views.

I change my byline based on whoever is catching a lot of buzz in the media and with that hot name teamed up on a well established site getting a first page/ first position rank on google comes instantly. keywords/phrases that are hot have easily put my articles on top of google instantly even if I'm competing with well over a million results in the search engine. Just get creative with the byline. instead of "jessica biel" try "jessica biel fan" or "jessica biel's fan" to narrow down the results and hit the first page of googs instantly.

well thats my tip for you article writers hope it helps.....

Thanks, not a bad tip, I'm gonna try it.

Yeah that's a solid idea.

I guess you could reserach on Google Trends and find some solid names to use that are popular.

yeah...actually you dont even need to use a real name...you could use a popular phrase in general too. pimp that byline

This is a fairly clever trick, I'll be sure to give it a try.

The question is why are you doing this:

* Are you just interested in getting views on the articles?
* Or are you trying to get traffic from your articles to a money site?

If the second, its going to be about as effective as sending pop-under traffic or exit traffic, i.e. not at all. Because the user behind that click from google is going to be interested in the keywords in your byline, not in the content of your article, which is (most likely) unrelated to those keywords?

Right?

Maybe I'm missing something?

I think he might be thinking in the lines of getting just views irrespective of whether the peson is interested in the article or not...which makes it good for AC as they pay for views. Just my take

good point.

with AC it equals money either way so its win/win...

with EZine and whatever others it will most likely equal junk traffic....

but since changing your byline literally takes a second and is free.....does it really matter?

It might equal one more sale you didnt have before........:)
