Three weeks after I decided to make the transfer from the 9-5 grind to IM, my first $2.50 has rolled in!

Yesterday, took about $1.50 (in GBP) in physical sales CPA, and $1 in Adzzzzzzzense through two microniche sites. It was the first day I have been ranked highly to pull in the traffic. Also have a CB site, so we'll see what happens with that.

Wahoo. Not a lot, but I'm on a scalable mission, so it's proof that I can do it, and if you're reading this, and doing nothing, YOU CAN DO IT TOO.

Do this 1000 times over and I'll be able to keep up with all the "I'm writing this in my Porsche" BS!

Will share more specifics (and tools) as time goes by, but just wanted to say thanks to EVERYBODY who's contributed to this forum.

I've picked up the odd gem here, and the odd gem there and that's why I'm convinced I can chuck in the job by the end of the year!!

    Keep it up BlackHatters.

    Hello Fellow BlackHatters,

I have been reading a lot about these micro niche sites. Could someone direct me to where I learn how to get started on these? Or providing the details yourself would be appreciated as well.

    Thank you,
    killxp

My approach... only time will tell whether it's right. Keep an eye on my earnings posts!!!

First I've started with a broad "niche" e.g. widgets. I'll never rank for this, but tap it in to the Adddwwwwoords tool, and you'll see that related keywords perhaps "fat blue widgets" has say 3-6,000 searches a month.

Some will say that's too low, some will say the tool is a load of s**t, but it's the best I've got!!! So there might be enough traffic for me.

But can I rank for it? There's no point unless I can make Gurgle's top three.

To me, that means the top three must have a PR of no more than 3. My ambitions might increase over time.

Then, how can I monetise? Is the CPC high enough for blue widgets? Is there a good % CPA for a retailer? How about a CB product?

If there's a good enough income stream (and all of the above feels right!!!), get a killer domain (www.fatbluewidgets.com), build the site and optimise like hell.

A few pages of great content (I have a great way of semi-automatically originating great content in whatever niche), plus all the SEO tips you can find on here.

I'm a coding genius ;-), so I've automated loads of this process, which makes things easier.

But hell, other people far more experienced will do things differently. Feedback always welcome!

Not really. Sites are a frortnight old. Thus ranking low. Thus getting a small fraction of possible clicks. Say Pos 3 gets 10x the hits of pos 10. That means only 60 sites. Doable it think.

    Hello bowcot,

Its great news that you've made your 1st $2.50!! Im on $10.57 with my some blog i made and it feels like such a long road to $100 pay day! :D But its fun along the way!

I too have been reading up and getting ideas from fellow black hatters! Ive thought about a couple of niche's but my main stumberling block is the creation of content which uve addressed in your previous post.

I was wondering what are these online php based tools you use to automate the process? This would greatly help me out aswell as fellow black hatters. :)

I'll continue following this thread as I enjoy the Quest and the notion of working your way up from nothing!

So after two day without anything, another dollar today! This time from a different site.

Thought I'd take this opportunity to talk about what I've done so far, adn the lessons I've learnt. Probably won't help most people except noobs, but also helps clarify things in my mind.

Since the start of 2010, I've set up 12 sites. I've now earnt money from three, although not enough to cover costs. There's a mix of domains, CPA (physical and CB), geo targetting, site sizes etc.

Lesson 1: .info ranks ok (I have a top fives for a 1k and 3/k month keyphrase). BUT I won't be buying any more. REASON: My gut says Gurgle rewards sites that are here to stay. So I need to register for two years or more. This means the financial reason for buying an .info (cheap first year) is irrelevant. Across all ten domains that are index, ranking is much better for two year sites.

Lesson 2: Addddwords tool is way off. One keyphrase is said to have 1k a month. I'm #4, and has a click every other day. #FAIL
Another keyphrase, where I'm top 50, am getting 5 clicks a day, and most (80%? click through to the merchant). One conversion so far, but it's a 90 day cookie, so more may come through. So I'm using the tool, but sense-checking my knowledge of the market.

Lesson 3: Bigger is better. The larger sites do so much better for organic search than the 4 pagers. That's why the tool I've developed to get good content (which makes sense!!) is vital.

Lesson 4: $30 Adwords cost = $1 Adsense. But I think this rises over time as you site becomes more trusted. Am I right?

Lesson 5: Patience: For the first two week I checked hourly to see whether I'd been indexed. Waste of time. If I'd spent that time buying domains, I'd be at 40 sites by now!!!!

Lesson 6: Keep records. This is vital. I think know where yesterday's dollar came from, but I'm not sure. I need to give each site a seperate Adsensssse channel. There's other stuff that I need to list. Now have a spreadsheet.

Lesson 7: Free hosts suck. Have only ever used expensive paid hosts for my 9-5 job, but tried to do this on minimum start up costs. Now, two sites have been hacked (on 5g*igs.net), and other sites which use my tools have been shut down intermittently for what looks like spam (but actually isn't). Now I'm experimenting with Autoblogs, and free hosts can't cope. But for <$5 a month I can have unlimited addon domain, bandwith etc. Not doing so is false economy.

    Think that's it for now.

I don't know absolutely. Which is why record keeping is important.

    Would estimate about $100 dollars.

So down $96.50 so far!!!!!! :)

I know that 80% of what I have spent will be wasted. The key is finding out which 80%!!

    And scaling the 20%.
