I want to teach myself Visual Basic, and need help on where to start. I'm a "hands-on" kind of person and can only learn by DOING. I can read and understand something, but only if it gets immediately put to use. Otherwise concepts sort of fall out of my brain and it's as if I haven't read anything at all.

Where's a good place to start? How do I go from having a basic understanding of programming (I've dabbled a bit) to writing a functional bit of code that does "something", even if it's just blanking the screen and typing "Hello World".

If you learn best by doing then you probably will learn better by watching than reading. So I would suggest going to youtube to learn and dive right in.

After you start learning, go ahead and practice right away. Practice is what makes you master any programming language.

I must answer in this thread even OP is banned. If someone want's to learn the coding he can go with CodeCademy . That was definietly the best side nowadays where you can learn a lot.

Did OP get banned because he wanted to learn VB? I'd ban him for that too.
