    The title says it all.
I understand if one or two of my videos are stolen. That's still okay. But these weeks my videos are being stolen en masse. Not only stolen and re-uploaded, some videos are renamed so that if people are searching for my videos the top results are NOT my videos.

But lately someone did this to me :

    • For example, I have 5 unique, high quality videos. These videos are clearly mine, complete with my company's logo on the sides.
    • Let's say that their title is A, B, C, D, E.
    • The thief downloaded all of them. The thief renamed video B, C, D, E into A.
    • So, if people are searching for video A, the results will A, B, C, D, E, although the content of the video itself is not changed. So, the video B have the content of B but the title is A.
    • The thief uploaded my video to their own channel. 100% of the thief's channel is my content, stolen from my channel. The thief have 3-4 channels.
    • The copycat videos didn't have much viewers, roughly only 1-10% of the original videos. No comments, social signals, and that kind of thing. The original videos sometimes get comments, likes, and dislikes.
    • The copycat videos have AdSense enabled.
    • In practice, for every video I have they got 20-30 renamed videos, so the real video, which is uploaded by me, usually drops to page #2 of YouTube search.
    • The description of the video is changed. The copycat version have stuffed keywords in it, complete with LSI and secondary keywords. For example, if the video title is "The Failure of Asian Market" the copycat version's description is : failure asian market, the failure of asian market hd, failure of asian market 2013, failure of asian market now, etc. While the original is merely giving the excerpts of the content of the video.

I have reported the videos to YouTube, and still awaiting their response for my request of DMCA takedown.
I believe this is not a manual job, because of the change in the description, and the speed of the work.
I believe that this is some targeted attack, because all thief's channels only have MY content.

    My questions :
    1. What is the purpose of doing this? If the thief are looking for money, it don't work. Because although they have Adsense enabled most of them only got very low amount of viewers.
    2. Can my competitor do this to me?
    3. How to mitigate this kind of problem?

    Thanks a lot, BHW!

You should await the response of youtube or contact the owner of the channel with a serious message. That's what I see as the only options

Yes, I have contacted YouTube, but maybe I will contact the channel owner too.
I also believe that YouTube will delete the offending videos. But the problem is that the offending channel have 900+ videos, and creating a takedown notice for each of them is taking much time. I hope that YouTube will just ban the whole channel.

I am still wondering what is the motivation of the thief/offender.

That's the problem once the content spiders out... the original owner gets somewhat lost in the mix.
In any case - the DMCA takedown will do the job, as long as it's actually your content.

this happens to me all the time, just make sure you do some video SEO and get your videos ranking highest :) Of course ideally the other guy will have their channel deleted, but while your waiting for that to happen do your best to rank better than him.

You can report them to Youtube and Youtube will give shut down their channel if they don't comply. They are probably using something like this Mass Video Blaster, so it's probably a fellow blackhatter.

Maybe contact the makers of this software and ask them for some advice...?

Don't worry of the hundreds of videos they uploaded. You just need to file 3 copyright complaints within 5 minutes. And from experience there channel will go down.
Give it a try, what you gotta loose.
    Good Luck

Just an update : I filed the complaint, around 20 videos and the channel got taken down in less than 6 hours.
The thief have some other channel that is standing, and I am planning to file more complaint to take them down today.

    Still, the motives elude me.
Why only target my channel, although there are millions of other channel there?
