Very simple question that I've always wondered:

For every Web 2.0, I create 1 link to my money site. Does it matter where I put this link? I always put it at the very bottom of the post but I've wondered if I should put it somewhere else like in the post or in the heading etc etc. What do you do?

I try to put 50% beteween the third paragraph, the other 50% mixed between top and bottom. Add the keyword before your link.

" you can find bluwidget on yoursite.com"

Does anybody have any proof that where the link is placed on the post actually has any impact?

Try to ignore putting links on the last line and first line of your article.. I usually do that in second or third para.

I prefer to put links in random paragraphs. As well as pictures and videos.

Links used in the body of an article related to the page the link points to will have the most value. This is what a contextual link is.

The more words around the link on the page that relate to the content on the page the link points to the better.

Generally, Google thinks the information at the beginning of an article (or a sentence or paragraph, for that matter) is the most important information it contains.

All that together indicates you should get the most link juice from a link near the beginning of an article, near the beginning of the paragraph containing it, related to what is on the page in your site that the link points to.

Second to third paragraph, like many people have said.

As for as link juice goes, anywhere in the content is good. In case a manual review of your site is triggered it is best to have some randomization of the link position. All links at top or bottom will raise red flags.

You should put the link in the position that makes the most sense for the user not the search engine the could be the first sentence or the last however its good to include related keywords before and after the link this is normally different each time but I believe only one link is counted so you do not need to add the same link more than once.

You should consider it's relevancy - i.e. Is it placed in context with the surrounding & supporting LSI KWs? (as Techxan said above - it's contextual) and it does matter where it is placed, but not from a point of view as to whether it's at the top / bottom / middle etc. It is where it is placed in relation to the rest of the text and what the actual content is. General rule of thumb is to write your copy so that you can include the link higher up in the page anyway and then make sure the surrounding copy is relevant. You know how Clutts keeps going on about 'relevancy' ? This is part of what he means.

Yeah. Try to put your link in second or third paragraph. It does count where you place your link in the post.

I cannot say that I have 'proof'. But I would say most should be within a paragraph so its actually part of the content.

Although this is probably not a defining factor, as an example, having 40 web 2.0's all with keywords at the bottom of the page does not look natural.

Rumours have it that "signature links", at the bottom of the page, were being discounted because they were a trigger for some link nets that Google detected....

It does matter - There's no rule set in stone, but as long as it looks natural and it actually makes sense to link from wherever you link - you are doing a good job.
