    Hi guys,

I have a query. I have been researching some of the top ranking websites for one of the most competitive niches online.

And surprisingly, I find that most of them have very few backlinks pointing to the site.

Yet, they are on page #1 for keywords that are shit hard to bypass a manual penalty by Google.

What I am i missing? Is there a way by which you can prevent the actual number of backlinks to show up on ahrefs? I remember reading about something like that over here a while ago.

These are keywords with an average of 11,300,000 search results.

    Here's a couple of examples.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

yes, you can have ahrefs/maj crawlers blocked in your htaccess so they won't be able to see that the links coming from X are going to your site

Ok. But how does that help? Is it to prevent competitors snooping and copying your link building strategies?

And also, shouldnt that also hide these 8 or 100 backlinks that do show up eventually?

    Thanks

Again, SEO/backlinks has never been about quantity but quality. Until people remove the logs from their eyes they will never see clearly, blast me if you think am goofing.

Agreed. But this is a niche that would get red flagged within weeks even if they did high quality White Hat Seo with tons of diverse backlinks, original content, multiple tiers, socials and everything else.

But they are on page one consistently for a few months. So, either they are doing something that the others aint or they are just pure lucky, which I seriously doubt.

you can have rewrite rules based on referrers

so if you have a powerful network and you don't want it to be discovered by your competitors and ratted to the Gman you will have something like this in your htaccess

    Code:
    RewriteEngine on
    # Options +FollowSymlinks
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} awesomenetworksite\.com [NC,OR]
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} anotherawesomenetworksite\.com
    RewriteRule .* - [F]
this blocks the traffic coming from those sites... to be honest I don't know exactly how to block the bots but here are some resources:

Everyone of them is selling (actually reselling most of the times) crap!
Best SEO is done by yourself, while you only automate boring tasks during the process ;)

I would guess one or more of the following:

    1.they are blocking certain crawlers.

2.they have very few but very relevant/authorities links.

3.they have some 301 domains or other covert tactics.

Not all of course, but 70% at least yes!
Something that works for a lot of people may not work for you or me or anyone else and the opposite. Reason for this is because SEO is not rocket science. And please do your own due diligence to spot fake reviews from "a lot of people" saying it works bla bla from the real ones!
