Anyone know how to change ips quickly with verizon fios.
takes 2hr after unplugging it.
If you have a router that allows MAC address cloning then you can simply set a MAC address in your router and on refresh you will get a new IP.
Now before you try this always make sure to RELEASE YOUR IP FIRST, then set a cloned MAC address, and finally renew your IP. You can repeat this over and over again as you wish, but again always make sure to release your IP first.
I'm not sure which routers allow this buy my old Linksys BEFSR81 V3 has this feature and I keep it just for this purpose, to change a dynamic IP quickly on my ISP.
Tincan I posted the same question here before and I've tried all of the recommendations without any success. I've searched the internet and still can't find a solution. With this new router, I think Verizon made it very very difficult for anyone to change the IP address.
If you find a solution please post it here and I'll do the same if I find one.
Damn it all to hell. I'm glad someone else has also been wondering about this, because I have been going crazy trying to figure out why nothing works to change the freakin' IP with FiOS.
There also doesn't appear to be any reasonable way to hook up a separate wireless router (like a linksys) to the wacky built-in thing that Verizon has supplied us all with.
I'm almost wondering if I should sign up for DSL in addition to FiOS just so I can easily change my IP.
Will keep you all posted if I figure anything out.
Wow, I've been trying to upgrade to fios for some time but unable to becuz its not available in my area...maybe I lucked out. I hope you guys find a solution.
Don't get me wrong, I love Fios, my internet connection is really fast and I also got the TV/Movie package with it. It's awesome. The only complaint I have is not being able to change my IP. Sooner or later someone will find out how to easily change it and post it somewhere.
If someone can tell me where the diconnect button is in the Fios manager section there may be a solution. If there is a disconnet button in there...I can't seem to find it. The manual is not clear on where to find this button...if there is one.
